Lao Dong Newspaper: International Conference on Quality Assurance of Southeast Asian Universities

The International Conference of the Southeast Asian Universities Quality Assurance Network was held in Vietnam, co-organized by Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU).

Nearly 400 speakers, coordinators, experts, delegates and managers from 153 universities and educational institutions in the ASEAN region and around the world attended the 2024 ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance International Conference (AUN-QA IC) which opened at Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) on December 11. The conference was jointly organized by TDTU and the Southeast Asian University Quality Assurance Network (UAN).

Attending the conference were Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Phan Van Anh; representatives of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam, members of the University Council, the Board of Directors and experts and lecturers of TDTU.

In his opening speech, Dr. Tran Trong Dao - President of TDTU - emphasized: Over 27 years of establishment and development, TDTU has made continuous efforts to become an international-class research university, carrying out the mission of education, research and innovation for the comprehensive development of people and society.

To date, 41 training programs of TDTU have been recognized as meeting international standards by prestigious accreditation organizations such as AUN-QA, FIBAA and ASIIN, all remaining programs are planned to be accredited in the near future.

“The theme of this year’s conference, “Innovating ASEAN Higher Education: Integrating Artificial Intelligence, Database Applications, and Quality Culture for the Future,” reflects TDTU’s vision in the context of globalization and rapid technological development.

Co-organizing this conference is an important step forward for TDTU, affirming our role as not only an educational institution but also a strategic partner in building and promoting a culture of quality assurance in ASEAN,” emphasized Dr. Tran Trong Dao.

Dr. Choltis Dhirathiti, AUN Executive Director, commented: “With extensive experience in organizing large-scale, international events, TDTU has demonstrated its ability to effectively manage logistics, registration, and event coordination, while creating a professional and respectful environment for all delegates.”

Professor, Dr. Huynh Van Chuong - Director of the Department of Quality Management, Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam - expressed his joy and appreciation for the AUN-QA International Conference being held in Vietnam this time.

“The conference not only provides an opportunity for countries in the ASEAN region and the international community to share experiences and discuss current and practical issues in management and quality improvement of higher education, but it is also an opportunity for Vietnamese higher education institutions to affirm their role and commitment in ensuring educational quality in the region and integrating deeply into the world,” said Professor, Dr. Huynh Van Chuong.

This is the first time the International Conference of the Southeast Asian University Quality Assurance Network has been held in Vietnam.
