On August 5, 2025, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) held a ceremony to announce and present the Decision to establish the Center for Innovation and Technology Transfer (CITT), along with the Decision to appoint managerial officials for several units under the University.
In attendance at the ceremony were Dr. Vu Anh Duc, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the University Council; Dr. Tran Trong Dao, Chairman of the Science and Training Council, President of TDTU; members of the University’s Presidential Board along with the leaders from various Departments, Faculties, Centers, and units under the University.
In the context of the ongoing Fourth Industrial Revolution, innovation and technology transfer play increasingly pivotal roles in creating new value, enhancing productivity, and boosting national competitiveness. Modern universities, in addition to their missions of education and research, also need to become a driving force for promoting technology applications, advancing knowledge, and supporting enterprises in innovation. The establishment of CITT at TDTU is a strategic solution aimed at concretizing this role in practice.
At the ceremony, Dr. Vu Anh Duc, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the University Council, extended his congratulations to the University’s Presidential Board as well as the entire University for launching CITT, a significant milestone in the context of TDTU’s strong implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW by the Political Bureau. The establishment of CITT received significant attention and support from the Presidential Board as well as units under the University, with thorough discussions and deliberations. He expressed his hope that the University’s Presidential Board and units under the University would promptly deploy and operate CITT effectively, thereby fostering and contributing to the University’s innovation and technology transfer activities.
In his speech at the ceremony, Dr. Tran Trong Dao, President of TDTU, expressed his expectations that CITT would connect research groups and faculties with enterprises and local authorities to promote the commercialization of research outcomes, nurture innovative ideas and contribute to building a startup ecosystem across the University. According to Dr. Tran Trong Dao, this is a progressive step to respond to and concretize the spirit of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW by the Political Bureau, affirming that the development of science, technology, and innovation is the fastest and most sustainable path to lead the country toward prosperity. He also added “I believe this is a concrete action for us to fulfill the role of a university in the context of implementing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, marking a breakthrough in developing science, technology, and fostering connections between scientists, enterprises, and local authorities.”

CITT is expected to serve as a focal point for organization in promoting and coordinating activities related to applied research, technology development, expert-enterprise networking, knowledge transfer, startup support and the creation of scientific and technological products for the community. The Center will also play a crucial role in the University’s strategy to build an innovation ecosystem, enhance research and development (R&D) capacity, and strengthen collaboration among the University, enterprises, government, and society.
At the ceremony, as part of the effort to consolidate leadership positions in units under TDTU, the University announced and presented the Decision on appointing Director and Deputy Director of CITT, as well as the Head of the Department for Communications and Public Relations.

In response to Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024, by the Political Bureau on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation; Resolution No. 03-NQ/CP dated January 9, 2025, by the government on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation; Action Program No. 63-CTr/HĐ/TU dated February 27, 2025, by the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee on the implementation of Resolution No. 57; and Plan No. 1413 dated March 3, 2025, by the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee to implement Action Program No. 63-CTrHĐ/TU, with the orientation of becoming a research-oriented university closely linked with enterprises and the country’s development needs, the establishment of CITT is an inevitable step to realize the University’s mission, strategic vision, and enhance its contributions to national science and technology activities, promote socio-economic development, and affirm the pioneering role of higher education institutions in the national innovation ecosystem.
In recent years, TDTU has undertaken numerous initiatives to actively promote robust and sustainable scientific research, such as establishing nine strong research groups and the office of the Institute for Advanced Study in Technology in Hanoi. The establishment of CITT is the next strategic step toward positioning TDTU as a globally competitive research university as well as contributing to transforming Vietnam’s growth model based on knowledge and innovation. This move enhances TDTU’s contributions to the sustainable development of the nation, region, and international community.
