On February 24, 2022, the Trade Union of Ton Duc Thang University organized the fund awarding ceremony to support the Scholarship Fund for orphaned students due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Attending the ceremony were representatives of the Ho Chi Minh City Confederation of Labour, the Ho Chi Minh City Association for the Protection of People with Disabilities and Orphans, leaders of Hoc Mon district and 20 orphaned students due to the COVID-19 pandemic in communes and towns of Hoc Mon district.
Attendees from Ton Duc Thang University included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vuong Duc Hoang Quan - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the University Council, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Bao - Chairman of the Trade Union, and leaders of affiliated units and trade union groups.
Ms. Hoang Thi Khanh - Honorary Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Association for the Protection of People with Disabilities and Orphans said: "The COVID-19 pandemic has caused great losses. More than 2,000 orphans across the city, including those with loss of both parents are in need of the community’s help so far. As a bridge between the Association and Ton Duc Thang University, I hope that 20 children with unfortunate circumstances of Hoc Mon district will receive the support from their sponsors who are lecturers and staff of the University, helping the children to have a good orientation on their path of study to complete their dreams".
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Bao - Chairman of TDTU Trade Union said that in this campaign, more than 800 days of salary with a total value of nearly 500 million VND were contributed by the lecturers and staff of the University to support the fund, with the hope to help orphans ease the pain of losing their loved ones.
Also, the Ho Chi Minh City Association for the Protection of People with Disabilities and Orphans awarded scholarships and gifts to 20 children. This is a timely encouragement to help them continue their studies and strive for success in life.
