Closing Ceremony and Award Presentation for the University-level Public Lecture and Panel Discussion Series, Academic Year 2024-2025

On June 6, 2025, at Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU), the closing ceremony and award presentation for the University-level Public Lecture and Panel Discussion Series, Academic Year 2024-2025, took place to recognize and honor the efforts of lecturers in innovating teaching methods during the academic year. The ceremony was attended by the Presidential Board, leaders of Faculties/Institutes/Centers, 119 lecturers and staff, and nearly 100 students.

At the opening of the ceremony, Dr. Dong Si Thien Chau – Vice President of TDTU, on behalf of the Presidential Board, expressed deep gratitude to all TDTU lecturers for their efforts, creativity, and unwavering dedication in the journey of innovating teaching methods throughout the academic year 2024–2025. She also emphasized that the results of the ceremony go beyond the awards presented, serving as a vivid testament to the profound transformation in educational thinking – where each lecturer is a catalyst for innovation, and every classroom is a space for creative and humanistic learning.

At the ceremony, Ms. Vo Ngan Tho – Deputy Head of the Department of Testing and Quality Assessment – presented the summary report of the Public Lecture – Panel Discussion series for the academic year 2024–2025. The report highlighted many outstanding results, including over 500 lecturers participating, 19 AI applications developed, more than 600 votes from the lecturer community, and 15 awards presented to honor innovative and creative teaching initiatives. These impressive numbers demonstrate the spirit of learning, openness to innovation, and the widespread culture of sharing within the TDTU lecturer community.

One of the most anticipated moments of the program was the award presentation to the lecturers who made outstanding contributions to the Public Lecture Series in the academic year 2024–2025. The award ceremony was divided into two main categories:

  • The first category: Awarding prizes to outstanding lecturers in the Panel Discussion “Building a positive learning environment with a learner-centered approach” and Public Lectures in class – where lecturers share, practice, and spread learner-centered teaching methods in a dynamic and effective way.
  • The second category: Awarding prizes to outstanding lecturers in the Training, Practice, and Panel Discussion on “AI Applications in teaching” – a series of prominent activities featuring many innovative products, demonstrating the ability to integrate advanced technology into practical pedagogy.

Each category includes the following awards: Special Prize, First Prize, Second Prize, Third Prize, and Consolation Prizes. These awards not only honor outstanding individuals but also encourage the spirit of learning, creativity, and continuous innovation within the entire teaching community of TDTU.

Awarding prizes to the top 10 AI applications in teaching

The award-winning representative, Ms. Hoang Thi Tuong Vinh – Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Labor Relations and Trade Unions, shared her heartfelt thoughts after participating in the series of activities. In her speech, she emphasized that the role of educators in the modern era is not only to impart knowledge but also to inspire thinking and accompany students in their creative learning process. She also affirmed that the application of AI is not intended to replace teachers, but rather serves as a tool to make classrooms more dynamic, personalized, and effective. Her sincere and inspiring words provided additional motivation to the teaching community in their journey of innovating teaching methods at TDTU.

The program concluded with the launch of ideas for Public lectures for the academic year 2025-2026, presented by Dr. Duong Thi Thuy Van – Head of Department of Testing and Quality Assessment. Unlike previous years, this year’s activities are designed with a co-creation approach, gathering direct feedback from instructors through quick voting via QR codes and speeches in the auditorium.

The survey content focuses on three main groups:

  • Innovation in teaching methods, with options such as interdisciplinary learning, technology-based learning, experiential learning, gamified learning, and feedback-based learning.
  • Innovation in assessment and evaluation, including authentic assessment, adaptive assessment, peer assessment, assessment through learning portfolios, and criterion-based assessment.
  • Preferred implementation formats, including teaching demonstrations (model lessons), seminars with experts, instructor training, specialized workshops, and academic competitions.

The ceremony also recorded many direct feedbacks from lecturers and staff in the Hall, demonstrating the active interest and support from the teaching staff. The Department of Testing and Quality Assessment sincerely acknowledged all the feedback, studied them, and incorporated them into the improvement plan for the activities in the next academic year, contributing to the strong promotion of innovation and the sustainable development of teaching quality at TDTU.
