Meeting of the Council of Professors of Ton Duc Thang University in 2025
On July 14-15, 2025, the Council of Professors of Ton Duc Thang University (HĐGSCS) held two official meetings to consider and recognize the qualifications for the title of Associate Professor (PGS) in 2025 for 14 candidates. This is an official working step after careful preparation by the Council, the Standing Council and the Support Group.
The first meeting was attended by 11 Council members including: Prof. Dr. Phan Quoc Khanh - Chairman; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Duc - Vice Chairman; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Duc Hien - Secretary; 8 other members are Professors and Associate Professors inside and outside the University, and the Support Group of the Council.
This year, 14 candidates submitted complete applications according to regulations, more than the previous two years: in 2023, there were 8 candidates; in 2024, there were 12 candidates. The Council discussed and analyzed the candidates' applications and the evaluation opinions of 3 assessment officers for each candidate, closely following the regulations and standards of the State Council of Professors and also considering the requirements of the Industry Councils. At the end of the first meeting, the Council voted to approve the list of candidates to be interviewed at the second meeting of the Council.
At the second meeting, the Council of Professors conducted an assessment of the candidates' English proficiency, with the participation of the Foreign Language Assessment Team, including Dr. Vu Cong Danh - Team Leader and Dr. Nguyen Van Thanh, with the support of the Support Team.
In the second meeting, in phase 1, the Council interviewed each candidate. Each candidate presented research results and training activities for 15 minutes, then answered the interview and discussed expertise for 15 minutes. All presentations and discussions were conducted in English, except in cases where it is necessary to clarify specialized content, candidates can use Vietnamese as requested by the Council.
In phase 2, the Council met in private, without the participation of candidates. Based on the records, assessments at the first meeting and the interview results in phase 1, the Council discussed, synthesized assessment opinions, completed the records according to regulations, and voted on the list of qualified candidates, submitted to the State Council of Professors for consideration in the next steps.
