TDTU Solemnly Organizes the Ceremony to Celebrate the 80th Founding Anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army and the 35th Anniversary of the All-People’s National Defense Day

On December 20, 2024, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) solemnly held the Ceremony to celebrate the 80th Founding Anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024) and the 35th Anniversary of All-People’s National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2024).

The honored guests at the ceremony were Major Vu Ngoc Anh – National Defense Education Assistant, the Militia and Self-Defense Force of Ho Chi Minh City Command; and Lieutenant Colonel Lam Hong Phuc – Deputy Commander, Chief of Staff of District 7 Military Command.

From Ton Duc Thang University, there were Dr. Dong Si Thien Chau – Vice President; Mr. Ngo Quoc Thoi, MA – Deputy Director of the Defense and Security Education Center (DSEC); leaders of units under and affiliated to TDTU; lecturers and staff of the DSEC; veterans and former soldiers studying and working at TDTU; and more than 300 students of the intake 28 studying at the University.

The overview of the ceremony

Delegates, guests, lecturers, and students attending the ceremony reviewed the glorious 80-year history of fighting and building of the Vietnam People’s Army. The University’s leaders acknowledged and highly appreciated the spirit of “Uncle Ho’s soldiers” exhibited by generations of lecturers and staff of the DSEC, as well as teachers with military backgrounds working in various units of TDTU. Also, they expressed their hope that the teachers would continue to dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to the cause of education, embodying the noble qualities of soldiers of the Vietnam People’s Army - Uncle Ho’s Soldiers.

During the Celebration, students of Intake 28 and the University’s Music Team performed special and meaningful performances, recreating the heroic history of the nation’s fights. In addition, there were performances of unarmed exercises and rifle exercises, postures and movements on the battlefield, thereby demonstrating the professionalism and discipline of TDTU students. On this occasion, representatives of the University’s leadership presented souvenirs to veterans, awarded prizes for the Sports Festival activities to celebrate the founding day of the Vietnam People’s Army on December 22.

The ceremony took place in a solemn, warm and proud atmosphere, showing respect to the contributions of the officers and soldiers of the People’s Army in the cause of protecting and building the country as well as contributing to the increasingly strong development of TDTU. Lecturers and staff of the DSEC, veterans, and former soldiers also expressed their determination to inherit and promote the traditions of previous generations, and joined hands to overcome all difficulties to complete assigned tasks, contributing to maintaining the achievements and sustainable development of TDTU.

The ceremony was a meaningful event to review the tradition of building - fighting and growing up of the heroic Vietnam People’s Army, thereby arousing patriotism, national pride, and educating revolutionary traditions in students. This was also an opportunity for exchange, meeting, and connection between veterans within the University, together to develop the University stably and sustainably.
