TDTU Holds Ceremony Commemorating the 138th Birth Anniversary of President Ton Duc Thang
On August 20, 2026, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) held a ceremony commemorating the 138th birth anniversary of President Ton Duc Thang (August 20, 1888 – August 20, 2026) and a solemn incense-offering ceremony in his memory. The event expressed profound respect and gratitude for President Ton Duc Thang’s great contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, as well as to the Vietnam Trade Union organization.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the leadership of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Ho Chi Minh City, and the Ho Chi Minh City Federation of Labor; representatives of various departments, agencies, and socio-political organizations, as well as trade union organizations at all levels in the city; TDTU leaders; and a large number of trade union officials, workers, public employees, and employees.
In a solemn atmosphere, delegates offered flowers and incense at the Monument of President Ton Duc Thang on the University's campus, paying tribute to his life, career, and exemplary moral character as a steadfast communist, exemplary leader, and outstanding son of the nation and the Vietnamese working class.
Honored to bear the name of President Ton Duc Thang, TDTU has always valued, preserved, and promoted his noble qualities while emphasizing the importance of traditional education and fostering pride and a sense of responsibility toward the community among its staff, employees, and students. The incense-offering ceremony was also an occasion for the University community to reflect on and further promote the positive values and legacy left by President Ton Duc Thang.
On this occasion, TDTU also collaborated with the Ho Chi Minh City Federation of Labor to organize a number of trade union activities at the University. The Ho Chi Minh City Federation of Labor honored 11 outstanding workers and engineers with the 26th Ton Duc Thang Award 2026 in recognition of their initiatives, technical improvements, and practical contributions to labor, production, research, and innovation. It also presented the July 28 Award 2026 to 31 outstanding grassroots trade union officials.
In addition to the commendation activities, the Ho Chi Minh City Federation of Labor launched the Tran Van Kieu Scholarship Program and the Digital Trade Union application, contributing to more effective trade union operations and strengthening support and care for union members and workers in the context of digital transformation.
By combining the incense-offering ceremony with trade union activities, TDTU contributed to deepening the significance of the commemorative occasion while further strengthening the close relationship between the University, the trade union organization, and the workforce of Ho Chi Minh City.
