TDTU Participates in Conference on Dissemination and Implementation of the Trade Union Law 2024 and the Social Insurance Law 2024
On February 5, 2025, Ton Duc Thang University hosted an online access point for the national conference on disseminating and implementing the Trade Union Law 2024 and the Social Insurance Law 2024, organized by the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour.
The conference was held nationwide by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) in a hybrid format, combining both in-person and online participation.
According to Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang, Chairman of the VGCL, the approval of two important laws—the Trade Union Law 2024 and the Social Insurance Law 2024—by the National Assembly directly impacts the rights and benefits of union members, workers, and the Trade Union. These legal frameworks provide a solid foundation for trade union officials and organizations at all levels to better fulfill their role in representing and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers while continuing to innovate trade union structures and activities in response to new challenges.
The conference aimed to enhance the awareness of trade union officials regarding the key contents of the Trade Union Law and the Social Insurance Law 2024. It also underscored the VGCL’s responsibility in implementing the laws effectively, ensuring their provisions are enforced in a timely and efficient manner.
During the recent 8th session, the 15th National Assembly passed the Trade Union Law 2024 with 443 out of 456 delegates voting in favor. The law consists of six chapters and 37 articles - four more articles than the current version - and will take effect on July 1, 2025.
The Social Insurance Law 2024 includes 11 chapters and 141 articles and will also come into effect on July 1, 2025. The revised law introduces significant changes and expands benefits for participants.
