CHAMPION OF “TDT MC” CONTEST 2016
Having passed the challenges of the skills required by an MC, Pham Nguyen Bach Tran (Faculty of Foreign Languages) successfully won the TDTU 2016 MC Competition.
FIRST PRIZE OF TON DUC THANG UNIVERSITY STUDENT LEADER 2016
The contest 'Student Leaders of Ton Duc Thang University' 2016 was a playground for students to have exchanges, promoting the spirit of solidarity and creativity in learning and training. To Hai Luong (Faculty of Law) excelled as "Student Leader of Ton Duc Thang University" in 2016.
PRIZE WINNERS HONOURING THE BEAUTY OF VIETNAMESE AO DAI
Participating in the 3rd Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival, Dao Thi Minh Thao (Faculty of Applied Sciences) entered the Top 20 of Charming Ao Dai - Vietnamese Beauty Glow. Also in this festival, Pham Phuoc Loc (Faculty of Information Technology) was awarded the 2nd Prize for his photograph showing the sweetness of TDTU female students in their traditional pink Ao Dai of the school.

Loa Thanh Award has been co-organized by Vietnam General Association of Construction, Vietnam Architects Association, Ministry of Construction and Central Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union since 1988. Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) had 2 winning projects in 2016 from the students from the Faculty of Engineering. Nguyen Thai Vin (left) got the second prize and Phan Tuan Vu students (right) won the third prize.
68-YEAR-OLD FRESH MASTER OF SCIENCE: MAI ANH DUNG
Mr. Mai Anh Dung has been admitted to pursue chemical engineering at TDTU. In 2016, Dung (MSc) graduated at the age of 68 and was the oldest graduate from TDTU. This is a good example for all students to confirm the belief that "You are never too old to learn".
FIRST PRIZE OF STUDENT CITY ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIP 2016
HCMC Student Athletics Championships in 2016 attracted more than 200 students. With 30 athletes competing in 5 competitions, TDTU team won the first prize for non-professional athletes with 8 gold medals, 4 silver medals and 6 bronze medals.
TAEKWONDO TDTU TEAM CONFIDENTLY HEADS THE LINE
Taekwondo is considered as the strength of TDTU. Many TDTU students are currently national taekwondo players. Over the past year, the TDTU Taekwondo team has achieved impressive results: the Cup Winners at the International Martial Arts Festival in 2016; 2 gold medals and 3 bronze medals at the "Asian Championships 2016"; 2 gold medals and 1 bronze medal in the French Open Taekwondo.
FIRST PRIZE FOR THE SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH STUDENT AWARD - EURÉKA 2016
In 2016, the EURÉKA Awards attracted 621 topics, 1,435 participants. Students Dieu Thuy, Le Phuc and Binh Nguyen from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities successfully won the first prize in the social field with the topic "Farmers' awareness of climate change and the like in response to climate change."

“THE BEST PLAYER” AT Ho Chi Minh City Student FOOTBALL Tournament 2016
Ho Chi Minh City student football tournament 2016 took place with the participation of the best 16 teams. TDTU Team won the position of runner-up; Nguyen Minh Nhat received the best player award. Previously, TDTU team also won the champion trophy in RMIT open football cup 2016.

Vietnam's Next Top Model is a reality show from the United States that bought the copyright from MultiMedia Company to produce and broadcast on VTV3. Discipline, seriousness and hard physical training when studying at TDTU helped Nguyen Thi Ngoc Chau (Faculty of Applied Sciences) be mature in thinking, be sharp in action and become the champion of Vietnam's Next Top Model 2016.
“THE BEST PROJECT IN INTERIOR DESIGN” AWARD AT “ELLE FASHION ROAD TRIP 2016”
As part of ELLE Fashion Journey 2016, "ELLE Fashion Road Trip 2016", Bui Diep Anh Khoa (Faculty of Industrial Fine Arts - Middle) won the first prize in Interior Design with the project "Banyan Tree Resort" about the hospitality service chain which was inspired by Hue Imperial City.
FIRST PRIZE FOR “THE BEST STARTUP STUDENT” STARTUP WHEEL 2016
The STARTUP WHEEL 2016 was initiated by Business Startup Support Center (BSSC) attracted 632 startup models. In the Top 60 of the contest, Vo Van Nhi (Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering) was awarded the "Best Startup Student" award.
TOP 5 BEST DESIGNS AT THE NATIONAL CLOTHES DESIGN FOR VIETNAMESE REPRESENTATIVE AT MISS UNIVERSE 2016
The contest "The national clothes design for Vietnamese representative at Miss Universe 2016" was organized by Hoan Vu Sai Gon Unicorp Joint Stock Company. Taking part in this design playground, Pham Lam My (Faculty of Industrial Fine Arts) was selected for "TOP 5 Best Designs".
SECOND BEST FOR ASIAN FOOTWEAR DESIGN 2016
The Asian footwear design competition is held every year to find talented footwear designers in the region. Mai Thi Thuy (Faculty of Industrial Fine Arts) was the second-best designer in the competition.
TOP 10 “PERCEPTION OF VIETNAM” CREATIVE COMPETITIONS, PART OF VIETNAM CREATIVE FESTIVAL 2016
As a part of Vietnam Creative Festival (VCF2016), the “Perception of Vietnam” creative competition was organized to encourage creativity and provoke creative views towards Vietnam through all senses. Nguyễn Thành Nam (Faculty of Industrial Fine Arts) with the game “The Battle of Bạch Đằng” reached top 10 Best Creative Products. Thành Nam was also the valedictorian of Graduate Projects in Industrial Design in 2016.
THIRD PRIZE FOR STUDENT BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT IN HCMC 2016
The basketball tournament, part of HCMC University Student Games 4 – HCUS Games 4 – in the academic year 2016-2017 attracted 23 universities and institutes around HCM City. TDTU basketball team won Third Prize in both the Male and Female Divisions.

World Taekwondo female artist Châu Tuyết Vân (Sports Business and Event Organization) continued to accomplish remarkable achievements last year: gold in the Taekwondo 2016 Asian Championship; gold in the New Taekwondo Poomsae Asian Tournament and 2 silvers in the Taekwondo 2016 World Championship.
GOLD MEDAL IN TAEKWONDO TECHNICAL IN LILLE, FRANCE 2016
Nguyễn Thị Mộng Quỳnh, International Taekwondo master, currently a first-year student in Sports Business and Event Organization, won the gold medal in Martial Art Taekwondo Lille Championship – France in 2016. Mộng Quỳnh was the only athlete from Vietnam (ages 15-17) winning all Gold medals in Youth Taekwondo World Championship, Asian Championship, South-East Asian Championship and international tournaments.
MR AND MISS BEAUTY FROM “TDTU BEAUTY” 2016 CONTEST
“Tôn Đức Thắng University Beauty” contest was organized for the first time in 2016 and attracted thousands of elegant and excellent students from TDTU. Phạm Hoàng Quân (Faculty of Business Administration) and Bùi Tường Vân (Faculty of Industrial Fine Arts) won TDTU Mr and Miss Beauty.
