Program for the Gathering of Leaders and Former Lecturers and Staff of Ton Duc Thang University on the Occasion of the Lunar New Year of the Fire Horse 2026
On February 6, 2026, the Program for the Gathering of leaders and former lecturers and staff of Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) on the occasion of the Lunar New Year of the Fire Horse 2026 was successfully held in a warm and convivial atmosphere toward the end of the year. The event aimed to express profound gratitude for the valuable contributions of former lecturers and staff throughout the stages of building and development of the University, while also providing an opportunity for visiting, sharing, and strengthening the emotional bonds between the University and generations of lecturers and staff.
Attending the gathering, on behalf of the University Founding Council, were Ms. Hoang Thi Khanh – Chairwoman of the University Founding Council, and Mr. Pham Hong Ky – Member of the University Founding Council. Representing the former University Council were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vuong Duc Hoang Quan – former Chairman of the University Council; Mr. Nguyen Huy Can – President of the Ho Chi Minh City Association for Promoting Education, former Member of the University Council; Mr. Vo Khac Thai – Permanent Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Federation of Labour, former Member of the University Council; and Ms. Nguyen Thi La – former Member of the University Council.
Representing former TDTU lecturers and staff were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Ngoc Tho – former President of the University, together with former and retired lecturers and staff from multiple generations who had worked and held many important positions at the University.
The gathering program was attended and hosted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trong Dao – Secretary of the Party Committee of Ton Duc Thang University, President of the University, along with members of the Presidential Board and representatives of the leadership of affiliated and subordinate units of the University.
Representing generations of former lecturers and staff of the University, Ms. Hoang Thi Khanh – Chairwoman of the University Founding Council – shared: “Recalling the time when the University was newly established, the early period was extremely challenging. There were no facilities, and classrooms had to be rented in many different locations; there was no stable funding; and at certain times, lecturers accepted teaching for many consecutive months without receiving salaries,” she emotionally recalled.
However, it was the dedication and spirit of solidarity of the teaching staff, together with the strong support and favorable conditions provided by the Trade Union in many aspects during those early difficult days, that laid the foundation for the University’s existence and development. Step by step, the University gradually grew, with successive generations of lecturers and staff continuing the mission. Young teaching staff were given opportunities to access modern education both domestically and internationally, applying advanced models to enhance the quality of teaching. According to Ms. Hoang Thi Khanh, each milestone achieved by the University over the years has brought joy and pride to those who laid the very first bricks.
Over 29 years of establishment and development, with the mission of “Education, Research, and Creativity for the Comprehensive Development of Humans and Society,” Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) has steadily grown, matured, and become more resilient at every stage. Every achievement the University enjoys today has been nurtured by the dedication, intellect, and perseverance of many generations of lecturers and staff; by the guidance and support of generations of lecturers and staff; and by the tireless efforts of successive generations of TDTU students.
The event contributed to strengthening the linkage between tradition – the present – and the future, spreading pride in the University’s journey of growth and maturity, and fostering a spirit of companionship and support from former lecturers and staff for the future development orientation of Ton Duc Thang University.
The gathering took place in a warm and cordial atmosphere on the occasion of the year’s end and the welcoming of spring season. On this occasion, the Presidential Board also extended New Year greetings to generations of lecturers and staff who had worked at the University, thereby nurturing and reinforcing the culture of gratitude and meaningful bonds of Ton Duc Thang University.
