The Cultural Exchange Fair Celebrating Lunar New Year 2025 at Ton Duc Thang University

On January 10, 2025, Ton Duc Thang University hosted the Cultural Exchange Fair celebrating Lunar New Year 2025 for Vietnamese Youth Union members, youth and students as well as international students enrolled at the University, marking the 75th anniversary of the Traditional Day of Vietnamese students (January 9, 1950 - January 9, 2025) and welcoming the upcoming Lunar New Year. The event attracted nearly 100 international students from countries such as the United Kingdom, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, and South Korea, alongside their Vietnamese peers.

The event featured a rich, meaningful and diverse program, including a meeting between the University’s leaders and international students on the occasion of the Lunar New Year. Besides, there were also traditional Vietnamese folk games competitions, a booth decoration contest under the theme “Vietnamese Tet”, activities such as making “bánh chưng” (Vietnamese cylindrical sticky rice cake), “bánh tét” (Vietnamese square sticky rice cake) along with music performances by student clubs and groups. Especially in this event, there were performances staged and delivered by international students, which highlighted the unique cultural identity of their home countries.

This meaningful event provided international students studying at the University with an opportunity to engage with and learn about Vietnamese culture and traditions, particularly in the festive atmosphere welcoming the Lunar New Year. It also fostered a sense of community among international students at TDTU, promoting friendship and cultural exchange between nations.

The Cultural Exchange Fair is one of many regular activities organized by Ton Duc Thang University, alongside other cultural, artistic, sports, sightseeing and experience activities for international students. These include the Cultural Exchange Fair celebrating Vietnamese Lunar New Year, Bun Pi Mai Lao and Chol Chnam Thmey (April 2024), as well as team-building, sports competitions, and cultural exchanges with Vietnamese students and international students taking short-term exchange courses at the University throughout the academic year. These activities reflect the University’s commitment and efforts towards the goal of internationalization, contributing to widely promoting the University’s global profile.
