On the morning of August 20, 2022, Ton Duc Thang University solemnly held an incense offering ceremony in front of Uncle Ton’s Bust on the occasion of the 134th birthday commemoration of President Ton Duc Thang (August 20, 1888 - August 20, 2022). Attending the incense offering ceremony, there was the participation of the representatives of the Party Committee, Presidential Board, Trade Union, Youth Union, leaders of affiliated units and representatives of students.

At the commemoration, Dr. Vu Anh Duc - the Secretary of the Party Committee, the Chairman of the University Council reviewed the life and great revolutionary career of Uncle Ton - a faithful communist, an exemplary leader who served the Fatherland and the people all his life.

Being proud of President Ton Duc Thang's career and revolutionary ethics, being proud to work and study under a university named after Uncle Ton; Leaders, lecturers, and students of Ton Duc Thang University unite, dedicate themselves and strive to study hard to bring the University to a new level.

President Ton Duc Thang was born on August 20, 1888 at Ong Ho Island in An Hoa Village, Dinh Thanh Canton, Long Xuyen province (now My Hoa Hung commune, Long Xuyen City, An Giang Province) in a middle peasant family.

Being born when the country was invaded, patriotic movements failed and were fiercely suppressed, had a profound impact on Uncle Ho's perception from his childhood. With nearly 70 years of continuously participating in revolutionary activities, 27 consecutive years as Chairman of the Lien Viet Front and Chairman of the Central Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front, and more than 10 years as President of Vietnam, Uncle Ton had dedicated his whole life for the glorious revolutionary cause of our Party, our people and international friends.

With those great contributions, Uncle Ton was the first person to have the honor of being awarded the Gold Star Order by the Party and Government, the noblest Order; along with many important awards such as the Order of Lenin, the Lenin Prize for peace and friendship among nations, and many other noble titles.
