Celebrating the 15 th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Center for National Defense and Security Education – Ton Duc Thang University

On May 31, 2024, the 15th Anniversary of establishment of the Center for National Defense and Security Education – Ton Duc Thang University was solemnly celebrated.

Attending the ceremony, the guests were Senior Lieutenant Colonel Thai Hoai Nam, Senior Specialist, representative of the Southern Department of National Defense and Security; Dr. Do Dai Thang, Director of the Center for National Defense and Security Education of Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City; and representatives of the Center for National Defense and Security Education of several Universities in Ho Chi Minh City.

On TDTU’s side, there was the presence of Dr. Tran Trong Dao, President, Director of TDTU Center for National Defense & Security Education; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Thi Minh Ly, Vice Chairwoman of the University Council, Dean of Faculty of Business Administration; Dr. Vo Hoang Duy, Vice President of TDTU; and Leaders of several University’s Departments, Boards, Faculties, Institutes, and Centers.

At the ceremony, on behalf of the Center’s Board of Directors, Colonel Nguyen Tien Loc, Vice Director of Center for National Defense and Security Education, briefly introduced the process of formation, development and achievements of the Center.

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the Party Committee and the Presidential Board, Dr. Tran Trong Dao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, the President of TDTU, Director of Center for National Defense and Security Education, particularly thanked to the Ministry of National Defense; Ministry of Education and Training; Ho Chi Minh City Command, and the 7th Military Region for their attention, encouragement, guidance and facilitation so that the Center could improve its personnel and initial operating process; as well as to the support from other affable centers for National Defense and Security Education. The President especially expressed his thanks to the veteran lecturers, who have joined the Center since its first days of establishment, and those representing the University’s departments for their efforts to support the Center in fulfilling its duties.

The President recognized, praised and congratulated the Center’s growth and comprehensive development over the past 15 years. “The achievements we have witnessed is the honor of the University, the Center, and the joy of the lecturers when they are part of National Defense & Security Education” said Dr. Tran Trong Dao.

However, the President noted that besides the pride and honor, the duties of the lecturers at the Center will also be very heavy in the coming time. Therefore, on behalf of the University and the Center’s Board of Directors, the President has assigned tasks to the lecturers, especially the young lecturers of the Center. Accordingly, the Center’s lecturers need to actively study to improve their professional qualification, meet task requirements in the new situation, regularly update new knowledge to improve the quality of lecturers, strictly comply with the regulations and approved teaching processes, continue to strictly implement examination and student evaluation to ensure fairness, justice and accuracy, further strengthen student management and training, uphold the spirit of devotion to the Center, University as well as the country, and strive to turn the Center into one of the country’s leading Center for National Defense and Security Education.

TDTU Center for National Defense and Security Education was established on June 1, 2009, with the mission of training and providing students with basic knowledge of national defense and security. Over the past 15 years, the Center has continuously developed, becoming one of the leading units in defense and security education in the southern region. The Center is currently organizing teaching for 22 universities in Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai province.
