La Trobe University students’ experience at Ton Duc Thang University

On the morning of 2 December 2019, students of La Trobe University, Australia led by Dr. Tommy Huynh and Dr. Khoa Phan, Lecturer of the School of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences participated in a two-week short-term exchange program to experience the educational environment at Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU).

The program included planning for a future collaboration between both institutions. Twelve students from La Trobe University and twenty six from the Faculty of Environment and Labour Safety of TDTU will work together to implement a course on “Investigation on waste management in Vietnam”.

In his speech during the orientation session, Dr. Tran Trong Dao said this was the first time TDTU has organized for international students to study at both campuses, including Tan Phong and Nha Trang; in addition, he hoped that the delegation would have many engaging experiences at TDTU through the exchange program.

Dr. Tommy Huynh hoped that the cooperation would open up many more initiatives that would be highly applicable to solving the solid waste issue in Vietnam in the future.

During their stay, La Trobe University students will attend several classes, have professional exchanges with TDTU lecturers and students, and take part in cultural exchange activities.
