TDTU Strengthens Strategic Cooperation with VSB – Technical University of Ostrava
On September 10, 2026, a delegation from Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) visited and held a working session with VSB – Technical University of Ostrava (VSB–TUO), Czech Republic, to discuss and align on directions for expanding cooperation in education, scientific research, and innovation.
TDTU and VSB–TUO have maintained a strong partnership for more than a decade, achieving a number of significant outcomes. Notable initiatives include the sandwich PhD program, the 2+2 joint program in Computer Science, Erasmus+ activities, faculty and student exchanges, joint research groups, and the co-organization of international scientific conferences. The two universities have also been founding members of the University Consortium International (UCI) since 2019 and have jointly organized an international competition on unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) research and design.
During the working session, the two universities discussed enhancing their existing academic programs and exploring the development of new 2+2 joint programs in Mechatronics and Business. They also agreed to further develop the sandwich PhD program while strengthening student and faculty exchanges and fostering closer connections between research groups.
In research and innovation, TDTU and VSB–TUO identified several promising areas for future cooperation, including artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, digital technologies, electrical and electronic engineering, smart energy, environmental technologies, advanced materials, and smart manufacturing. The two universities also expressed interest in jointly developing proposals for Horizon Europe projects and other European research programs.
The visit further strengthened the long-standing partnership between TDTU and VSB–TUO while creating new opportunities for both universities to engage more deeply in regional and international networks in education, research, and innovation.
