In the context of global efforts toward sustainable development, emerging economies, inherently characterized by underdeveloped markets, unique socio-political settings, and diverse governance mechanisms, require research approaches tailored to their realities. During the program, the two speakers analyzed the relationship between corporate governance and sustainable development in the context of emerging economies, thereby offering research implications and practical policy recommendations for Vietnam.

In Vietnam, following the government’s strong commitment at the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) and its determination to pursue the development of a low-carbon economy, the imperative to promote ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices has become increasingly urgent for enterprises. However, ESG implementation in reality still faces various challenges, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), family-owned enterprises, and state-owned enterprises. In response to this situation, the speakers highlighted promising research directions such as the application of artificial intelligence (AI) to optimize ESG practices, governance structure innovation, the enhancement of corporate social responsibility, and the development of governance theories aligned with the Vietnamese context and characteristics.
