On the afternoon of May 15, 2024, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) organized the Finale of the 2nd INVESTMENT CHALLENGE 2024 (IC 2024).
Among attendees at the Finale were representatives from the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HOSE); representatives from the co-organizing unit - the Vietnam Securities Economic Magazine; leaders of securities companies, banks, financial institutions; lecturers representing the Presidential Board, Faculties/Departments of some universities whose contestants enter the Finale; representatives from the Presidential Board; and leaders of some units at TDTU.
This is the second national stock investment competition for university and college students. In her congratulatory speech, Dr. Dong Si Thien Chau, Vice President of TDTU, remarked: “With professionalism, transparency, and fairness, the competition has established the credibility and trust of contestants from universities nationwide who have registered to participate. IC 2024 attracted over 2,300 students from 102 universities and colleges across the country. This is clear evidence of the success of this year’s competition.”
Through the various rounds, the Organizing Committee selected 34 teams, comprising over 100 contestants, to open real trading accounts with securities companies based in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City which provided real investment capital for the competing teams. The total capital of nearly 500 million VND was granted to the teams to invest by those companies during a 2-month period, from February 19, 2024, to April 19, 2024.
The results revealed that the teams advancing to the IC 2024 Finale included contestants from 9 universities and academies: National Economics University (Northern region); Foreign Trade University (Northern region); Banking Academy (Northern region); Nha Trang University (Central region); Ho Chi Minh University of Banking; University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City; University of Economics and Law, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City; Foreign Trade University - Campus II; and Ton Duc Thang University.
Ultimately, team DAP from Ho Chi Minh University of Banking (comprising 3 members: Pham Thanh Phat, Nguyen Hung Anh, and Nguyen Thanh Duy) won the championship.
The second prize was awarded to team BETA from University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City and team BIF from Ho Chi Minh University of Banking.
Two consolation prizes were given to the team Finsmurf (Foreign Trade University - Campus II) and the team MONOTRY (University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City).
The INVESTMENT CHALLENGE was co-organized by the Center for Economic Training & Application Research and the Faculty of Finance and Banking at TDTU in collaboration with the Vietnam Securities Economic Magazine under the Vietnam Securities Business Association, aiming to create a playground, an academic forum, and a real investment environment for students. The mission of the competition is to foster a passion for the profession among students interested in learning about stock investment, and the core motto set for the competition is: gain experience, overcome difficulties, and accept challenges to succeed. The competition was professionally sponsored by the Vietnam Securities Business Association and the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange, with judges and sponsors from leading financial institutions, banks, and securities firms in the market.
