On the morning of July 12, 2018, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) held a small talk show about selecting product and different types of development in the sphere of tourism for Quang Ngai province. This talk show aims to gather experts’ opinions to identify the topics for the Conference on Quang Ngai Province Tourism Development as ordered by the province with TDTU in September 2018. The talk show was chaired by Prof. Le Vinh Danh, President of TDTU. The participants included Dr. Tran Trong Dao, Vice President of TDTU (in charge of multilateral cooperation), leaders and lecturers of TDTU Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, experts from HCM University of Culture, HCM University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Mr. Tran Quoc Hoi, Director of South travel and trading joint stock company, Mr. Bill Tran, Director of Vinalinks Consulting and Investing Company Limited and Mr. Nguyen Van My, Chairman of Member Council of Lua Viet Tours company limited.
After discussing the difficult situation of tourism development in Quang Ngai province, especially in terms of no specific tourist products, lack of outstanding tourism resources, the majority of raw resources, low competitive advantage, low quality of service, food and infrastructure, the delegates at the conference agreed that the forthcoming conference on tourism development of the province would not focus on macro policies as well as the grandiose plans or solutions that would take several decades to be completed because they are completely impossible for the Province; nor any provincial leaders who can or want to do things that they will get the result after a few decades (due to age and tenure). Therefore, the only focus is on how to attract more tourists to Quang Ngai in the next 3 to 5 years and increase the number of tourists staying in the province for 3 nights. If this particular activity is successful, its model will convince the community of small and medium investors. Then, if these investors agree to apply this model, issues will be solved and Quang Ngai tourism will develop.
