Deputy Prime Minister Le Tien Chau Visits Ton Duc Thang University
On July 19, 2026, on the occasion of attending the Closing and Award Ceremony of the 2026 Vietnam Workers' and Civil Servants' Football Championship held at Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU), Mr. Le Tien Chau, Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam, paid a visit to the University.
Joining the Deputy Prime Minister were Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Member of the Party Central Committee and President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL); Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee and Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee; along with representatives of relevant ministries, agencies, and organizations. The delegation was welcomed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trong Dao, President of Ton Duc Thang University, together with members of the University's Executive Board and leaders of its faculties and administrative units.
During the visit, the Deputy Prime Minister toured the University's educational facilities, learning and research spaces, and the Vietnam–Finland International School (VFIS). He also met with the University's leadership, faculty members, and staff. The Deputy Prime Minister acknowledged TDTU's remarkable achievements in developing a modern university model, highly appreciated its educational environment and comprehensive facilities, and commended the University's continuous efforts to enhance the quality of education, scientific research, and international integration.
Based on his observations of the University's operations, the Deputy Prime Minister recognized TDTU as one of Vietnam's successful models of university autonomy, demonstrating a strong spirit of initiative, innovation, and responsibility in institutional governance and educational development. He also noted that the Government's approval for TDTU to pilot the establishment of the Vietnam–Finland International School within a public higher education institution represents a groundbreaking initiative, creating new opportunities for innovation not only in higher education but also in general education. Drawing from the University's achievements, the Deputy Prime Minister remarked that this model offers significant practical value and should continue to be studied, refined, and appropriately replicated across Vietnam's education system.
The Deputy Prime Minister also extended his encouragement to the University's faculty members, staff, and employees, expressing his hope that they would continue to build on their accomplishments, uphold the spirit of innovation and creativity, and make even greater contributions to the development of higher education in Vietnam.
