Ton Duc Thang University Establishes Its 10th Strong Research Group, Spearheading National Strategic Technologies On May 8, 2026, in Ha Noi, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) held the Announcement Ceremony for the establishment of the Strong Research Group
On May 8, 2026, in Ha Noi, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) held the Announcement Ceremony for the establishment of the Strong Research Group on Advanced Materials for Natural and Artificial Resources (AMNR), bringing the University’s total number of strong research groups to 10. This is a significant milestone in TDTU's strategy for science-technology development and innovation. It also demonstrates the University’s determination to effectively implement Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024, issued by the Politburo on the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation.
Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trong Dao – Secretary of the Party Committee and President of TDTU, emphasized that strong research groups are not only places to gather a team of highly qualified scientists but also play a crucial role in solving major societal challenges, contributing to the enhancement of the University’s scientific and academic prestige both nationally and internationally.
Previously, on December 4, 2024, TDTU established the office of the Institute for Advanced Study in Technology (IAST) in Ha Noi, marking a new developmental step in its strategy to expand research and training activities to the Northern region. AMNR is the first strong research group of TDTU established in Ha Noi, reflecting the University’s strategic vision in connecting scientific resources and leveraging the advantages of the country's major research hub to promote in-depth research activities.
According to Dr. Man Minh Tan – Leader of the AMNR research group, the group will focus on developing key research areas such as advanced materials, photonic materials, energy materials, and material simulation. These are foundational fields associated with the list of national strategic technologies under Decision No. 21/2026/QĐ-TTg dated April 30, 2026, issued by the Prime Minister.
In addition to the goal of boosting high-quality international publications, the group also aims to develop postgraduate training, strengthen domestic and international research collaborations, and promote science-technology products with practical applications. Through these efforts, AMNR expects to make practical contributions to enhancing TDTU’s research capacity, innovation, and academic reputation in the new developmental phase.
The establishment of 10 strong research groups within just two years demonstrates TDTU’s methodical investment direction and long-term developmental strategy on its journey toward the goal of becoming a research university. This continues to affirm the University’s pioneering role in scientific research, innovation, and technology transfer.
