Nhan Dan Newspaper: 2025 SKY VISION Team – Ton Duc Thang University Wins First Prize at the 2025 UAV Innovation Competition
On December 7 in Hanoi, the 2025 UAV Innovation Competition – PV GAS Cup “Homeland Sky,” organized by the Institute for Aerospace and Underwater Technology (Hanoi University of Science and Technology) in coordination with the Vietnam Gas Corporation (PV GAS), concluded with the SKY VISION team from Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) claiming the championship title.

In his closing remarks, Mr. Dinh Tan Hung, Director of the Institute for Aerospace and Underwater Technology (Hanoi University of Science and Technology), stated that in response to the practical demand for developing UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) applications across various fields of life, as well as in rescue and relief operations during natural disasters, and with the goal of gradually building a workforce capable of mastering strategic technologies to form a future “low-altitude economy” in Vietnam, the Institute for Aerospace and Underwater Technology – an interdisciplinary research unit under the Hanoi University of Science and Technology – together with the Vietnam Gas Corporation (PV GAS), developed and launched the first nationwide UAV competition in Vietnam.
The competition’s scenario was designed to match the capabilities of university and high-school students in developing and manufacturing UAV products with sufficient intelligent features, combined with skilled maneuvering techniques to navigate obstacles simulating missions such as delivering energy modules in a future urban environment, as well as performing other emergency tasks.

More than 100 teams from institutions nationwide participated in the preliminary round, and the 28 strongest teams advanced to the finals. Over nearly three months, the teams independently designed and developed their products, trained autonomously, and took on the competition’s challenges through transparent and publicly conducted head-to-head matches.
“This is also the intention of the Organizing Committee, which hopes to promote a new research culture among the younger generation – one that emphasizes authentic development, real testing, and the gradual creation of viable products capable of competing on equal footing and meeting practical needs in the future,” Mr. Dinh Tan Hung stated.
Building on the initial results achieved, the Organizing Committee will continue to host the UAV Innovation Competition in 2026 with an enhanced scenario and greater challenges. In addition, a new UUV Innovation Competition – focusing on the development of intelligent underwater vehicles – is planned to take place in July–August 2026.
Within the framework of the closing ceremony, the season’s most important matches took place: the third-place playoff between the VANLANGUAV team from Van Lang University and the LH-TDH team from Lac Hong University, and the championship match between the BK-IAV team from Hanoi University of Science and Technology and the SKY VISION team from Ton Duc Thang University. Both matchups delivered intense and engaging UAV performances, showcasing the teams’ composure, technical skills, and tactical acumen.

After a challenging and intense competitive journey, the championship title was claimed by the SKY VISION team from Ton Duc Thang University. Demonstrating strong composure, sharp tactical strategy, and mastery of UAV technology, SKY VISION excelled in every round with unwavering determination and a clear drive to win.
The BK-IAV team from Hanoi University of Science and Technology secured the Runner-up position, while the LH-TDH team from Lac Hong University finished in Third Place overall.

In terms of prize value, the Organizing Committee awarded 200 million VND for First Prize, 100 million VND for Second Prize, 80 million VND for Third Prize, and five Consolation Prizes worth 30 million VND each.
The 2025 UAV Innovation Competition – PV GAS Cup has evolved beyond a mere contest; it has truly become a forum that connects education, industry, and innovation, creating opportunities for career development and research for young talents.
With the theme “Homeland Sky” expressed throughout both the competition content and the program’s spirit, the event inspired national pride, a sense of responsibility toward the country, and the aspiration to master the skies through Vietnamese technology.
