Ton Duc Thang University Opens the 2026–2027 Academic Year
On September 5, 2026, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) held the Opening Ceremony for the 2026–2027 Academic Year. The ceremony was attended by leaders of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, representatives of agencies and organizations in Ho Chi Minh City, and partner institutions. Representing TDTU were the University’s leadership, staff and employees, along with more than 1,000 doctoral candidates, graduate students, and undergraduate students representing nearly 30,000 learners across the University.
The 2026–2027 academic year is particularly significant as TDTU welcomes more than 7,000 freshmen of Cohort 30 and looks ahead to the 30th anniversary of its establishment (September 24, 1997–September 24, 2027).
The academic year review video highlighted TDTU’s impressive achievements in 2025–2026. The University maintained an enrolment of nearly 30,000 learners across 52 undergraduate, 18 master’s, and 10 doctoral programs. More than 7,300 new students were admitted, while nearly 5,900 learners graduated. Over 99% of graduates secured employment within 12 months of graduation. An additional 12 academic programs earned international accreditation under AUN-QA standards.
In scientific research and innovation, TDTU recorded more than 800 new publications indexed in the Web of Science and Scopus databases.
These achievements provide a strong foundation for TDTU to continue advancing education, scientific research, innovation, and international integration in the new academic year.
This year, TDTU welcomes 32 newly admitted doctoral candidates and 181 new master’s students. They will contribute to strengthening the University’s research capacity, developing highly qualified human resources, and advancing scientific, technological, and innovative outcomes.
At the ceremony, Pham Hong Tram Anh, a freshman from the Faculty of Business Administration’s international joint program, was honored as the top-ranked student of the 2026 admission cycle with an admission score of 92.08 out of 100. She was awarded a full scholarship covering 100% of her tuition fees for the 2026–2027 academic year.
On this occasion, TDTU also received a Certificate of Merit from the Ministry of Public Security in recognition of its active and effective contributions to the All-People Movement for National Security Protection. The commendation acknowledges the University’s responsibility and efforts in fostering a safe and civilized educational environment.
Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trong Dao, President of TDTU, emphasized: “Knowledge helps us begin, but it is the capacity for self-directed learning and personal resilience that enable us to go far.” This message reflects the University’s commitment to developing lifelong learning capabilities, independent thinking, research and creative capacity, and the ability to navigate change among its learners.
Under the theme “Innovation – Creativity – Reaching Further,” the 2026–2027 academic year calls for continued improvements in the quality of education and research, greater application of technology, stronger international integration, and closer alignment between the University’s activities and society’s development needs.
This academic year also leads toward TDTU’s 30th anniversary. Building on its established foundations, the University will continue to focus on quality, innovation, and sustainable development as it pursues its goal of becoming a world-class research university.
