Ton Duc Thang University Welcomes and Works with the Consul General of Italy
On September 18, 2025, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) had the honor of welcoming Ms. Alessandra Tognonato, the newly appointed Consul General of Italy in Ho Chi Minh City, and Professor Cinzia Grieco, Education Attaché, as part of a visit aimed at strengthening educational and research cooperation between TDTU and Italian universities.
Representing TDTU at the meeting were Dr. Tran Trong Dao – President of the University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Hoang Bach – Director of the International Cooperation, Research and Training Institute (INCRETI) together with leaders from various affiliated Departments/ Faculties/ Institutes and units within the University.
During the meeting, Dr. Tran Trong Dao emphasized that cooperation in education, scientific research, and innovation with European institutions—especially Italian universities—has always been a key priority in TDTU’s international integration strategy. In recent years, the University has successfully carried out numerous collaborative activities with Italian universities, including faculty and student exchanges under the Erasmus+ program, organizing cultural exchange programs in Ho Chi Minh City and various renowned Italian cities such as Rome, Milan, and Venice, as well as implementing the joint training program in Applied Mathematics (1+1) with the University of L’Aquila.
As part of the meeting, the two sides discussed expanding cooperation in various areas, including faculty exchange, co-organizing international conferences and scientific seminars in fields such as economics, engineering, social sciences, and environmental studies. This collaboration is expected to serve as an important foundation for strengthening educational and research partnerships between TDTU and Italian universities in the coming years.
In addition, the two sides discussed the plan to implement an Italian language teaching program at TDTU, while also considering the possibility of establishing and expanding cooperation in training, research, and academic exchange. The two sides also agreed to strengthen connections to promote enrollment of Italian students at TDTU, both in short-term programs (one-semester exchanges, summer courses, short-term Vietnamese language programs) and long-term programs (undergraduate and postgraduate levels).
The visit of the Consul General of Italy is a testament to TDTU’s commitment to continuously expanding cooperation with Italian universities – partners with longstanding traditions and strong academic excellence, thereby enhancing the University’s international reputation.
