From 24th to 29th March 2018, the delegation of traditional martial arts from Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) participated in the first International Vietnamese Traditional Martial Arts Festival organised at Nha Trang city – Khanh Hoa Province. Organised by the Vietnam Traditional Martial Arts Federation, the festival attracted 440 martial arts practitioners from 24 provinces and cities in Vietnam and 3 international teams from France, Russia, and Morocco. The events of performance included 10 compulsory disciplines established by the Vietnam Traditional Martial Arts Federation; weapon-based martial arts forms; men’s sparring event, women’s sparring event, and duel event (bare hands against bare hands, bare hands against weapons, and weapons against weapons).
There were 25 athletes in the delegation of TDTU traditional martial arts who participated in 21 medal events and all won the medals in all of the medal events (2 gold medals, 7 silver medals, and 14 bronze medals). This achievement proves that TDTU students’ level in martial arts reaches an adequate level of proficiency instead of any serendipity. This achievement also directly contributes to the conservation and development of martial arts values and martial arts practice activities at TDTU.
