Ton Duc Thang University opened its new academic year 2017-2018 TDTU

In the morning of 01/09/2017, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) solemnly held a closing ceremony of the academic year 2016-2017  and opening of the new one 2017-2018 and a welcome to regular students of the 21st course.

At the ceremony, Prof. Le Vinh Danh, Principal of TDTU reported the achievements of the university in 2016-2017 academic year as well as in 20 years of establishment and development. In particular, he emphasized (on the more and more) professional training, reference and strict application of the program from the Top 100 universities in the world; the success of TDTU graduates on the labor market expressed by the percentage of students who have their own start-ups or got a job within one year from the graduation which reached 99.3%, the highest value in the University history, particularly in some faculties the percentage hit even 100%. He also remarked that all businesses recruiting students valued TDTU students as "professionally ethical, disciplined, hard-working, punctual and polite”.

In the academic year 2016-2017, the international cooperation of TDTU continued to flourish. The training programs, internships, summer camps, student exchanges were appreciated by students and parents. TDTU is currently expanding its partnerships and signed contracts with 120 partners from 30 countries and 13 Sandwich PhD programs in cooperation with leading European universities.

The program improving lecturer’s and student’s knowledge and research capacity has also developed rapidly. The University has 1,966 scientific papers published on prestigious scientific forums at home and abroad including 827 scientific journals in the world's leading magazines listed in the ISI journals of which 21 have the impact factor between 5 and 10. From January 2016 to August 2017, the total number of publications published in the ISI journals rose to No. 1 in Vietnam with 44 focus groups; four patents were accepted, another two were accepted and are pending the receipt of the patent and 16 were pending review by the USPTO. TDTU has established the Journal of Information and Telecommunications (JIT) and the Journal of Advanced Engineering and Computing (JAEC), which are published globally and free of charge for posting.

In the academic year 2016-2017, the Scientific Research for Students Activity has been developed in to the Scientific Research Contest for Students with 140 research ideas, 60 topics implemented by the university with a total cost of 100 million dongs. 22 research topics participating in Euréka Awards, including 1 first prize in Sociology. 

In terms of infrastructure, the University has continued to make significant progress; it has inaugurated a library and the International Education Center. The library is a 7-story building with the total investment expense of VND129 billion and the total floor area of 8,768 m2, is the most modern library in Vietnam and can meet the international standards. Until now, the total investment in the University's facilities has accumulated as a public asset with a value of over VND 1,700 billion. That is the notable contribution of Ton Duc Thang University to the country.

Also at the Opening Ceremony, Ton Duc Thang University also commended and awarded scholarships to students who had achieved good academic performance; high achievement in scientific research and fine-arts activities with a total value of VND2,800,000,000. These serve as a motivation  to make students more confident and self-determined on the journey of fulfilling their ambition and dreams under the roof of the university named after the President Ton Duc Thang.
