On November 21, 2023, the Delegation of Tomas Bata University (UTB) and Technical University of Ostrava (VSB-TUO) (Czech Republic) visited and worked with Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU). Within the framework of the visit, the two parties held a cooperation agreement signing ceremony.
Attending the working session and signing, from VSB-TOU, there were Prof. Václav Snásel - Rector, Dr. Zdenka Chmeliková - Vice Rector, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lenka Kauerová - Vice Dean of the Faculty of Economics.
UTB representatives included Prof. Milan Adamek - Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marek Kubalcik - Vice Rector, Prof. Jiri Vojtesek - Dean of the Faculty of Applied Informatics, and Mr. Pavel Bycek - Head of the International Office.
From TDTU, there were Dr. Tran Trong Dao - President, Dr. Phan Dao - Director of the European Cooperation Center and Director of TDTU's Bata Center, Dr. Dinh Hoang Bach - Director of the International Cooperation, Research and Training Institute (INCRETI), and leaders of a number of units under TDTU.
Prof. VácLav Snásel, Rector of VSB-TUO, was impressed by TDTU’s scientific research achievements. Therefore, he wished to cooperate with TDTU on graduate student exchange programs between the two universities. Prof. VácLav Snásel believed that it was a good opportunity for graduate students to improve their knowledge and widen their horizons at one of the top universities in Ho Chi Minh City.
Dr. Tran Trong Dao shared that TDTU was willing to be a sustainable bridge connecting VSB-TOU and TBU to the university community in Asia, especially in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
At the meeting, the two parties discussed cooperation potentials on building joint training programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, annual short-term student exchange programs as well as admission work, so students, staff, and lecturers from two universities in the Czech Republic can come to study at the Master's and Doctoral levels at TDTU. The favorable working session leading to the signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement demonstrated the desire to build a long-term, sustainable relationship between TDTU and UTB & VSB-TUO.
VSB-TUO and TDTU have established cooperative relations since 2011 and successfully implemented bilateral Doctoral degree programs, 2+2 joint programs, Erasmus+, established joint research groups, and organized international scientific conferences, and exchanged professors, scientists and students every year. Regarding the relationship with UTB, many important cooperation programs in training, science and technology between TDTU and UTB have long been implemented effectively. At the same time, VSB-TUO and UTB are founding members of the UCI initiated by TDTU.
