On March 4, 2024, the delegation of Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU), led by Dr. Tran Trong Dao – President of TDTU visited, worked and signed a cooperation agreement with the University of L’Aquila (UnivAQ), Italy. Welcoming the delegates were Prof. Edoardo Alesse – Rector, 3 Vice Rectors, Deans, and Heads of Institutes/Centers of UnivAQ. Besides, attending this ceremony were also leader representatives of the Vietnamese Embassy in Italy including Mr. Nguyen Thai Hoc, Counsellor and Mr. Nguyen Dang Hai Hung, First Secretary.
On this occasion, leaders of TDTU & UnivAQ agreed to cooperate in implementing a joint training program to grant Dual Master’s degrees in Applied Mathematics between the two universities. The proposed program consists of two phases – after completing 01 year at TDTU, students of the joint program will be eligible to receive a scholarship (including tuition + allowances) to finish the second year at UnivAQ. The Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics is part of the training agreement of member schools of the RealMath Association – a society of 17+ advanced Mathematics Training Institutions in the world (which TDTU has become a member since 2021).
In addition, the two universities discussed and agreed to expand potential bilateral cooperation programs in the fields of Business, Financial Mathematics, Information Technology, Electricity – Electronics, etc.; stimulate cooperation in scientific research and technology transfer; co-organize international conferences and student/lecturer exchange programs; and among others.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Thai Hoc highly appreciated TDTU’s creativity and policy of international cooperation, in terms of training & research. He also praised the advancements made by the University during the last few years when quoted “This event plays a vital role in establishing cooperation not only in particular between TDTU and UnivAQ, but also in general between Vietnam and Italy, in the field of training and research”.
UnivAQ is a research-oriented public university that ranks 21 – 37 amongst the best Italian universities. The University is an Italian’s leading training-research institute in the fields of Electrical Engineering, Applied Sciences, Information Technology, Applied Mathematics, etc. UnivAQ is currently the main coordinator of the Master double degrees of the RealMath Association.
