More than 20 years of extensive collaboration between Ton Duc Thang University and Saxion University, The Netherlands

Saxion University of Applied Sciences (Saxion), in the Netherlands, conducted a formal celebration of "Saxion - 25 years of partnership with Vietnam" in the afternoon - February 7, 2023. This is a significant event in the "Saxion Global Village" week's schedule of events honoring Saxion University's international cooperation efforts with Vietnamese universities in the areas of education, human resource exchange, cultural exchange, and scientific research cooperation while also commemorating the institution's 25th anniversary of founding.

The Vietnamese ambassador to the Netherlands, Mr. Pham Viet Anh, the president of Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU), Dr. Tran Trong Dao, as well as several academics, lecturers, students, alumni, Dutch and Vietnamese enterprises, all attended the event.

Speaking at the ceremony, the President of Saxion University and TDTU including Ms. Anka Mulder and Dr. Tran Trong Dao affirmed: thanks to the long-term, effective and sustainable cooperation relationship between the two sides, it has brought practical benefits to the lecturers and students of the two universities in particular, and actively contributed to the cooperation and relationship between the two countries - Vietnam and the Netherlands in general.

On this occasion, Ambassador Pham Viet Anh commended Saxion and its Vietnamese partners for their successful and practical international collaboration, which has improved the caliber of student training, the efficacy of the curriculum, and the availability of high caliber human resources for society. When TDTU became the first university in Vietnam to have a comprehensive cooperation with Saxion University in many fields, such as the exchange of lecturers and students, scientific research, technology transfer, and implementing international joint training programs for dual degrees, Ambassador Pham Viet Anh specifically expressed his impression of TDTU's internationalization development strategy.

Saxion University and TDTU signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement for the new period (2023–2027) under the witness of the Ambassador of Vietnam to the Netherlands and all guests after discussing new cooperation opportunities in the future and exchanging experiences on sustainable scientific research development strategies associated with practice and application. The international associate university program (3 + 1) for Finance & Control was also implemented.

During TDTU's official visit to Saxion University this time, in addition to participating in a series of international events and activities, such as attending the International Project Week program, exchanging information about the space exploration program with Dr. André Kuipers - Dutch astronaut, visiting TDTU students studying at Saxion University in programs of association, and working with high-tech enterprises in the field of wastewater treatment, renewable energy, robotics and automation, etc., the TDTU delegation visited the wastewater treatment technology company NX Filtration to consult experience in developing the typical "three-house" combination model of Netherlands: Triple Helix (a combination between the University, the government and businesses), contributing to the improvement in research capacity and accumulating experience to apply results from scientific researches of lecturers and students to practice effectively.

In the fields of combined training, lecturer/student exchange, co-organization of international seminars, and creation of cooperative research projects, the Saxion University of Applied Sciences is the TDTU's strategic partner university. Nearly 28,000 students are being educated by the university at the moment through more than 100 courses in a variety of subject areas, including archaeology, finance, law, engineering, hospitality, business, information technology, broadcasting, medical, and digital media, among others.
