A Meeting between Ton Duc Thang University and the University of Melbourne (Australia)

On the afternoon of October 27, 2023, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) had a meeting with the University of Melbourne (Australia).

Representatives from the University of Melbourne included Professor Gregor Kennedy - Vice-Chancellor in charge of Academic Affairs; Mr. David Israel - Director of Global Education Strategy, and leaders and advisors from the University of Melbourne.

From TDTU, there were Dr. Dong Si Thien Chau - Vice President, Dr. Dinh Hoang Bach - Director of the International Cooperation, Research and Training Institute (INCRETI), and representatives of several faculties under TDTU.

At the meeting, representatives of each university introduced an overview of its training, scientific research and international cooperation programs. Both parties discussed the potential for cooperation in joint training, exchange of lecturers, students and graduate students between the two universities accordingly, aiming to expand the scientific research community.

Dr. Dinh Hoang Bach said that TDTU has been implementing many activities and cooperation programs in the field of education and training with international partners. As for Australia, by the end of October 2023, TDTU has signed cooperation agreements with 4 Universities and 1 organization in Australia, including University of Wollongong (2014, 2021), University of Queensland (2018), La Trobe University (2019), University of Melbourne (2021), and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, Australia (2021).

Professor Gregor Kennedy - Vice-Chancellor in charge of Academic Affairs at the University of Melbourne, highly appreciated TDTU’s position in education and training, especially in the field of scientific research. This visit to Vietnam by the University of Melbourne - one of Australia’s leading universities, aims to strengthen and expand cooperation with Vietnamese partners. Through that, Professor Kennedy expressed his trust and desire to have an opportunity to cooperate with TDTU, building a long-term, sustainable, effective and substantive relationship.

Over the years, TDTU has become a focal institution for international cooperation, education and research through an increase in international student and cultural exchanges that take place continuously and periodically. Exchange activities for international students at TDTU contribute to promoting and strengthening cooperation between the University and international partners. This is an opportunity for TDTU lecturers and students to connect with friends from many countries around the world.
