In October 20, 2017, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) organized a periodic talk which is part of the public speaker program with the participation of many students and lecturers. This month, a famous Vietnamese record holder - Doctor Pham S, who is now the Vice Chairman of Lam Dong province People’s Committee, was in charge of delivering the speech.
With the topic of “The application of high technology and smart digital technology to agriculture in the fourth industrial revolution 4.0”, Dr. Pham S used his own experience after years and years of doing research to provide hands-on content about the role of Applied Research (AR) in real life and introduce the scientifically meaningful and practical experience in the field. Most of those have been converted into policy to serve the means of manufacture and life, including the concept of applying high technology in agriculture, smart agriculture and some other outstanding and breakthrough scientific research works which have been applied in Lam Dong province in the last few months.
Apart from his administrative duties, Dr. Pham S still took his experience, his passion for researching and his viewpoint “Use the practical difficulties as the motivations for creativity” to encourage students to have the right spirit, “dare to dream and then make it happen”. Therefore, it was considered a very successful talk where thousands of ideas on some of the most concerned problems were brought up and made clear. After the talk drew to an end, Dr. Pham S spent some time to visit TDTU campus and he also emphasized on the importance of developing collaboration programs on researching and training between TDTU and Lam Dong province.
About Dr. Pham S:
Dr. Pham S is a research scientist directed to high-tech application; attached to the practice, willing to share with the community many scientific topics related to high-tech agriculture for the sustainable development of agriculture in Vietnam. Currently, Dr. Pham S is the Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Lam Dong Province and a Vietnamese record holder of the highest number of practical applications awarded with the most innovative and creative intellectual property licenses in Vietnam. He has researched, conserved and developed over 40 plant varieties, rare and precious plant genetic resources in and outside the country, including: forest trees, fruit trees, ornamental plants, medicinal plants and food crops. He is the author of a technical innovation, 01 useful solution, 02 varieties of high-yield tea, 01 flower variety; 07 creative labor licenses, 32 intellectual property licenses; owns over 40 rare and precious plant gene sources in Vietnam; author of 06 books, 01 university curriculum; published over 70 scientific works; awarded with second prize of creative science and technology of Vietnam in 2007 etc. and chairing many provincial and state projects. His practical scientific researches always come directly to farmers and businesses.
