The author group led by Dr. Thai Hoang Chien, Vice Director of the Institute for Advanced Study in Technology at Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU), and his colleagues have recently been awarded the Best Paper Award 2023 by EABE for their outstanding research paper with the most significant scientific impact over the past three years.
The award is recognized by the Engineering Analysis with Boundary Elements (EABE) Journal. In 2023, three scientific papers were honored by the Journal, considering all submissions from the years 2020, 2021, and 2022.
The award recognizes the outstanding paper with the most scientific impact over the past three consecutive years by the EABE.
This marks the first time a Vietnamese author group has been mentioned in this award.
The research has introduced a new method to support the computational analysis of structures using composite materials, structures reinforced for stiffness, and applications in the field of computational mechanics.
The study proposes adjustments to the stability of the meshfree method for computing complex reinforced structures. This new approach enhances and supplements stability components in structural computations, mitigating most dynamic disturbances and significant errors commonly associated with traditional meshfree methods.
These results are directly applied to structural computations in construction, calculating stability, impact resistance, and shell durability of vehicles such as cars, airplanes, and high-speed ship hulls. The research findings are also applicable to the computation of most structures using reinforced composite materials, simplifying the process, reducing computational costs, and ensuring high accuracy and reliability.
The EABE Best Paper Award was first announced by the Editorial Board of the Journal in 2018. The team of professors from the Editorial Board selects papers published in the preceding three years that have the most significant scientific impact. The awarded works, in addition to their breakthrough scientific content, must demonstrate impact within the global scientific community.
In sharing with VnExpress, the research team expressed great honor in receiving the award, stating that “it is a significant encouragement”. They also expressed the desire to strengthen collaborations with scientists worldwide. Particularly, they hope to contribute in a small part to the training and guidance of students and PhD students, aiming to cultivate a high-quality workforce in the field of computational mechanics.
Dr. Thai Hoang Chien is a scientist ranked in the top 1% globally in the field of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, attributed to his numerous citations and contributions in the pursued field.
The year 2023 marks the notable success of Dr. Thai Hoang Chien, consistently achieving remarkable accomplishments. He has been recognized as one of the most influential scientists globally, maintaining a position in the Top 100,000 scientists list (published on October 8, 2023, by the Metrics team of professors at Stanford University, USA) in the Plos Biology Journal for five consecutive years. Additionally, he has been ranked in the Top 1% of scientists worldwide in the field of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering by the website Research.com. Furthermore, he is one of the five Vietnamese scientists awarded the “Rising Star” badge, signifying outstanding scientific achievements on a global scale.
Currently, Dr. Thai Hoang Chien serves as the Executive Editor of the Journal of Advanced Engineering and Computation (JAEC) at TDTU. The JAEC has been included in the ASEAN Citation Index since 2019. Additionally, JAEC has been listed in the index of scored scientific journals (0-1 point) by the State Council for Professorship in the field of Mechanics in 2023.
