In harmony with the nationwide back-to-school atmosphere, from August 19 to August 22, 2024, Ton Duc Thang University organized the event to welcome students for the new academic year 2024-2025 as well as the “Student Orientation Week” for them.
Dr. Tran Trong Dao - the President of TDTU, along with members from Faculties, Departments, Centers, and Institutes attended the event. During the event on August 19, 2024, Dr. Tran Trong Dao warmly greeted and encouraged students. He also shared emotional and heartfelt reminders about their responsibilities in learning and self-development for the new academic year 2024-2025.
For final-year students, the President particularly emphasized that this year will mark a turning point. Flexibility, adaptability and a spirit of devotion are the key elements that he would like to impart to all the students. He also noted “The journey ahead may be challenging, yet it brings full of opportunities. Trust in yourself and what you have learned! Do not hesitate to explore new things. Always remain flexible, adaptable and devoted in all circumstances. Only by doing so can you fully unlock your potential and become well-rounded individuals who are willing to face any challenges and opportunities that life brings.”
The welcome event took place with smiles as well as the joy of returning to school and reuniting with teachers and friends. It was also energized by youthful and vibrant songs.
During the Student Orientation Week of this year, lectures and students of TDTU reviewed the University’s outstanding achievements in the previous academic year, thereby fostering pride in the University and enhancing each student’s sense of responsibility in preserving and furthering those accomplishments. The “Student Orientation Week” also highlighted and reiterated the educational contents for students, including the three ethical conduct, 5 identifying characteristics of TDTU students - “Discipline, Politeness, Professionalism, Creativity, and Devotion”, as well as the Code of Student Conduct. All these contents carry core values and beauty that form the distinctive culture of TDTU, which need to be preserved, upheld and widely spread.
As part of the “Student Orientation Week”, the organizers also held panel discussions themed “Overcome Self-Imposed Limitations”, “How To Use Social Media Safely and Effectively”, “Strengthen Resistance to Temptations”, and “Live Like Flowers” where leaders from Faculties, Departments, Centers, and Institutes had conversations directly with students enrolled in 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023.
The “Student Orientation Week” is an annual activity aimed at welcoming students to the new academic year, simultaneously helping them grasp essential issues concerning economic, political, and social life of the country, thereby creatively and appropriately applying to their studies at the University as well as raising their awareness and sense of responsibility in strictly complying with the Party’s guidelines and directions, the government’s policies and laws.
