Ton Duc Thang University Opens the Office of the Institute for Advanced Study in Technology in Hanoi

On December 4, 2024, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) inaugurated the office of the Institute for Advanced Study in Technology (IAST) in Hanoi. The event was held at the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health Science Building, 95 Tran Quoc Toan Street, Tran Hung Dao Ward, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Tong Van Bang, Head of the Organization Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL), Mr. Nguyen Minh Dung, Head of the Inspection Committee of the VGCL, Dr. Nguyen Anh Tho, Director of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health Science, and scientists from research institutes and universities in Hanoi.

From TDTU, attendees included Dr. Vu Anh Duc, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the University Council, Dr. Tran Trong Dao, Chairman of the Science and Training Council and President of the University, as well as members of the University Council, the Presidential Board, and experts and scientists from the Institute for Advanced Study in Technology.

The event marked a milestone in TDTU’s expansion of scientific research activities and the development of high-quality human resources nationwide.

The office of the TDTU Institute for Advanced Study in Technology in Hanoi will focus on basic research, applied implementation, technology transfer, and high-level human resource training in fields such as advanced materials chemistry, smart materials and advanced structures, biophysics, and material mechanics. It aims to enhance and expand partnerships with universities and research institutes in Hanoi and northern provinces.

In his opening speech, Dr. Tran Trong Dao – President of TDTU emphasized: “The inauguration of TDTU’s office in Hanoi marks a remarkable milestone, laying the foundation for TDTU to fulfill its educational and research mission in northern Vietnam, after the establishment of branches in Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong provinces. We aim at supporting nationwide human resource development and collaboration with localities, contributing to fulfilling the political mission assigned by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour. Therefore, we look forward to continued support from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour leadership, partners, and, especially, collaboration from educators and scientists in the future.”

The opening of the IAST office in Hanoi also expands opportunities for collaboration and connection with enterprises, organizations, government agencies, and the scientific community in neighboring regions. This marks a significant opportunity for scientists to participate in large-scale research projects, develop, and apply advanced scientific and technological achievements, contributing to the sustainable development of the country.

In addition to opening the IAST office in Hanoi, TDTU, in collaboration with the Institute of Occupational Health and Safety Sciences, officially launched the shared research space of the two units at the Institute’s headquarters, located at 99 Tran Quoc Toan Street, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi.
