On the morning of November 15, 2018 at 10F Auditorium, Ton Duc Thang University in collaboration with National Geographic Learning organized the seminar on "Bringing the power of ideas into your classroom" presented by John Hughes, the author of Life book and other ESL materials.

The seminar was attended by over 260 experts, lecturers and teachers from 22 universities in the Southern Vietnam and 30 English Language Centers in Ho Chi Minh City.

During the seminar, the speaker focused on presenting the methods that teachers can apply to form and encourage the student's critical thinking ability effectively. The speaker also gave specific insights into the application of Bloom's Taxonomy and critical thinking in teaching and learning English skills to help teachers develop ideas for their lesson plans. In addition, the speaker also analyzed some new trends in English language learning and teaching to help learners develop the skills of the 21st century. The seminar is also an opportunity for English teachers coming from many places, and different contexts to meet, share experiences, teaching ideas and build networks in the English teaching community.

In the afternoon, the organizers also welcomed more than 300 students to attend the seminar on "The power of image-Telling stories through photography" presented by Molly Ferrill, one of the famous explorers of National Geographic Learning.

Molly Ferrill has a great passion for photography. In this seminar with National Geographic Explorer Molly Ferrill, students learnt about the power of telling stories through photography. From basic photography tips to in-depth discussion of the stories that individual images and extended photo essays can convey, the workshop encouraged students to think beyond the technical aspect of photography and focus on the messages they could share with the world through their images. The lesson also touches on the power of combining visual and written storytelling as a tool for communication and advocacy.
