Opening Ceremony of the 500th AUN-QA Assessment of Four Study Programmes at Ton Duc Thang University
On January 13, 2026, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) held the opening ceremony of the 500th AUN-QA Assessment of Four Study Programmes at Ton Duc Thang University, in accordance with the AUN-QA standards. This event also marked the 500th assessment conducted by the ASEAN University Network – Quality Assurance (AUN-QA). The assessment focused on four study programmes, including Communications Engineering (Master’s level), Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering (undergraduate level), Computer Networks and Data Communications (undergraduate level), and Urban and Regional Planning (undergraduate level).
The opening ceremony was attended by the AUN-QA Assessment Team, comprising distinguised professors and experts in higher education from ASEAN countries, including Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Lao PDR, and Indonesia. On behalf of Ton Duc Thang University, the ceremony was attended by Dr. Dong Si Thien Chau, Vice President, together with leaders of Faculties and Departments, academic divisions, lecturers, as well as undergraduate and graduate students from the programmes being assessed.
Delivering remarks at the opening ceremony, Dr. Dong Si Thien Chau emphasized: “We consider this assessment an important opportunity to systematically review programme objectives, programme design, teaching and learning methods, assessment approaches, lecturer development, facilities, as well as the overall implementation of the programmes in accordance with the AUN-QA framework and regional quality assurance standards.”
At the Opening Ceremony, Prof. Dr. Chavalit Wongse-ek, Chief Assessor, acknowledged and highly appreciated TDTU’s efforts and thorough preparation for this significant assessment, which plays an important role in sustaining and enhancing the University’s capacity, thereby contributing to the provision of high-quality education for learners and the wider community.
The AUN-QA assessment took place from January 13 to January 15, 2026. During this period, the assessment team conducted direct interviews with programme management teams, staff, lecturers, undergraduate students, graduate students, alumni, and employer representatives; observed teaching and learning activities and facilities; and carried out a comprehensive evaluation based on the AUN-QA standards version 4.0.
The event was held in a serious and professional atmosphere, reflecting the thorough preparation and effective coordination among units across the University. Organizational arrangements and supporting activities were systematically implemented, creating favorable and efficient conditions for the Assessment Team’s work.
TDTU believes that this assessment will serve as an important motivation for the University to continue reviewing, refining, and systematically standardizing its activities in education, scientific research, and community service, thereby gradually realizing its goal of becoming a reputable research university in the region. The implementation of the 500th AUN-QA Assessment of Four Study Programmes not only reaffirms TDTU’s enduring commitment to quality assurance and continuous improvement in higher education, but also creates opportunities to strengthen cooperation and foster deeper connections with reputable educational institutions at both regional and international levels.
