Ton Duc Thang University Strengthens Legal Awareness and Crime Prevention Skills for Students
As part of the Student Orientation Week for the 2026–2027 academic year, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) organized a seminar entitled "Preventing Legal Violations among Students", presented by Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Nhao and Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Dao Minh Huy from the Advisory Division of the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department. The seminar aimed to equip students with legal knowledge and essential skills to proactively prevent risks, foster responsible behavior, and promote law-abiding conduct in both academic and everyday life.
Through real-life cases and practical examples, the speakers provided an overview of the current crime situation while analyzing common tactics and schemes that may target students or inadvertently involve them in unlawful activities. These included online fraud, social media scams, loan sharking, drug-related offenses, online gambling, and other legal violations. Students were also guided on how to recognize warning signs, strengthen their awareness of potential risks, and protect themselves in both the digital environment and daily life.
Beyond introducing relevant legal regulations, the seminar emphasized the role of every student in fostering a culture of respect for the rule of law on campus. Students were encouraged to comply with the law, use social media responsibly and ethically, and actively cooperate with the University and relevant authorities in reporting violations or potential threats to safety and security within the educational environment.
The seminar was guided by the message: "Safety is not a matter of luck—safety is a deliberate choice made every day." This message reinforced the understanding that compliance with the law is not only a civic duty but also an essential life skill that enables students to protect themselves from the increasingly complex risks and temptations of modern society.
The organization of this seminar reflects TDTU's continued commitment to political and ideological education, ethics, personal development, and legal awareness among its students. As one of the key components of the Student Orientation Week, the program contributes to building a safe, disciplined, and civilized educational environment while laying a strong foundation for students to develop intellectually, personally, and as responsible citizens.
