Following the success of the 2016 season, the Department of Finance and Banking at TDTU officially launched the competition, “Investing in Securities 2017” on 27 March, 2017. Over 1200 contestants from six universities around HCMC competed, including TDTU, Banking University, Open University, Food Industry University, Industrial University of HCMC, and University of Economics and Finance.

In the wake of fierce competition during the online quiz round, the top 36 contestants were divided into 12 teams to compete against one another by trading securities on an investment account, using real money via the Saigon Securities Company (SSI). The finale took place on 12 June 2017 with the best six teams going head-to-head for first prize. The final results were that TDTU’s outstanding students won the top three positions in the competition. Students from Open University and Food Industry University also won consolation prizes.

The competition witnessed the largest number of contestants ever, and attracted the attention of such prestigious sponsors as Saigon Securities Incorporation (SSI), Eximbank, South Asia Bank, Rong Viet Securities Company.  The "Investing in Securities 2017" contest, organized by TDTU, has truly become an impressive and professional academic playground that nurtures and develops human resources for the country.
