THE BRIDGE D10

It has been 19 months since the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City decided to rent out a plot of land behind TDTU to TDTU for further development. Because of being absorbed in our job, many of us rarely realized that it was really 19 months; and only fewer people realized that there has been a bridge between TDTU and this new land over the last few years.

The Bridge D10 has already formed and it connects the two sides of Tu Dinh canal

Someone asked: "When was the bridge built?" Maybe the speaker just circled in Zone 1 (the short term that Project Management uses based on the natural separation of Tan Phong by the three canals: the area before Ong Bay canal is Zone 1 with blocks A B, C, D, E, F, G; between Ong Bay canal and Tu Dinh canal is Zone 2 with stadium, football ground, dormitory, swimming pool ... and the area between Tu Dinh canal and Ong lon river is Zone 3- the new expanded land. Many of us have been working in Zone 1, only some of us sometimes visit Zone 2 and the rest of us just come to Zone 1 to work and then return home. Therefore, most of us are not aware of the shape of Zone 3 as well as D10 Bridge connecting between Zone 2 and 3. This bridge is a surprise!

We are actually a little heartless. The school has started its work on this new land with at least 4 items over the past 19 months. We built the bridge D10 and the embankment along Tu Dinh canal. Moreover, we also started VFIS to enroll students in August 2019 and established the Intelligent Agriculture Experiment Garden. The state also created D1 Street linking to Nguyen Van Linh Boulevard, along RMIT, TDTU, Police University and Ong Lon River to enter Tran Hung Dao Street in District 1. The D10 Bridge was started on October 30th, 2017 and the construction took within 2 and half months.

Well, many of us are busy with all sorts of worries: work, family, health, relatives ...  every day. We sometimes give ourselves the reason "we don’t have time to pay attention to things that are not close to us!". At least, each of us had a thought like this. However, although working in the most beautiful university in the country, with more than 1.320 people, there are still many people who still do not know about Zone 2, Zone 3, not including that "they have not set their foot yet on 30 hectares of the campus although it is not quite big!". We are quite heartless!

The view from the Bridge D10 in Zone 3 to the sport arena

For a few people, the first morning (on January 18th, 2018) that set their foot on the bridge, walked from Road 11 to Zone 3 and crossed the new bridge has brought them a sense of an indefinable feeling. Finally, the desire to have enough the minimum space to be able to build a campus that literally means a genuine campus of university during the past seven years has come true! Taking a look from Zone 2 and Zone 3, the leader can see a very bright future ahead for TDTU. Is the future really bright? The answer is yes because we already built a very proud school just in 10 years and with 11ha. Now, in the next 10 years, with the new 17ha (and even water areas allocated for management) what can we do more for the country? It is a question that forces people to think further and deeper, not just think about Zone 1, for bread and butter or their relatives!

Everyone with their own task is dedicated and diligent because of a strong future of TDTU

Although the bridge D10 has not been finished yet, it has already opened the way for TDTU’s development. Through this bridge, on January 25th, 2018, we will start building two more dormitories for students at home and abroad to ease the pressure of accommodation. In the past 4 years, the school always feels bad when they see students registering for boarding at the beginning of each school year but there is not enough room to stay. The school recognizes this problem, but due to becoming hopeless of not getting more land to build more important buildings, and we also cannot use the spare land to build more dormitory, this problem has not been solved until June 2016. Through this bridge, students will start studying in Zone 3 from this year onwards, the lecturers and staff living in dormitory will go to work from Zone 3 to Zone 1. Probably in the near future, when the bus station on TDTU’s river connecting Bach Dang Street (District 1) with D1 Street is built, students will take canoes on the Ong Lon River to get to District 1. Moreover, the scientific and technological development projects will be implemented continuously in 2019, 2020 and 2021 in this Zone 3.

Therefore, as a TDTU member, you should come to Bridge D10 , looking toward the Ong Lon River to feel our future and the education of the country. That is also what we should do.
