Ton Duc Thang University Launches New International Journal in Business and Economics
On September 23, 2026, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) held the launch ceremony for the inaugural issue of the International Journal of Business and Sustainable Economics (JBSE), while officially opening the JBSE Editorial Office at the University’s main campus in Tan Hung.
JBSE was founded by TDTU, which owns the rights to the journal’s title, and is published globally in partnership with World Scientific Publishing (Singapore).
A New Academic Forum for Sustainable Development
JBSE is envisioned as an academic forum for scholars, experts, and policymakers to publish and exchange new research findings. The journal focuses on business, economics, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development.
JBSE publishes four issues annually, operates under a fully Open Access model, and adopts a double-blind peer-review process. Its Editorial Board brings together scholars from leading universities and research institutions in Vietnam and abroad, with Professor Boris Popesko serving as Editor-in-Chief.
The launch of JBSE comes at a time when economic and business issues are increasingly viewed in connection with social responsibility, adaptability, and long-term value for people and the environment. The journal seeks to publish research with rigorous methodologies and clear practical implications, helping bridge academic knowledge with the demands of sustainable development.
A Strong Focus on Academic Quality and Integrity
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trong Dao, President of TDTU, emphasized: “The value of a scientific journal is not determined by its launch ceremony, but is built upon the quality of each article, the rigor of its peer-review process, integrity in publishing, and its ability to foster meaningful academic dialogue.”
According to the University President, JBSE will remain committed to three core priorities: academic quality, international standards, and a clearly defined scholarly identity. While inclusion in prestigious international academic databases such as Web of Science and Scopus is an important goal, it must be the outcome of a substantive and sustainable development process.
The establishment of JBSE marks a new stage in TDTU’s scientific research activities, extending the scope of the University’s academic journals from engineering and technology to economics and business. Through this development, TDTU continues to strengthen its multidisciplinary research ecosystem, creating additional opportunities for academic networking and knowledge dissemination, promoting scholarly exchange, and advancing impactful research that contributes meaningfully to society.
Since 2017, the University has proactively developed English-language scientific journals. Among them, the Journal of Information and Telecommunication is currently indexed in Web of Science and Scopus, while the Journal of Advanced Engineering and Computation is recognized for academic evaluation in the field of Mechanics by Vietnam’s State Council for Professorship. These successful experiences provide a solid foundation for the University to operate JBSE in accordance with international standards for scholarly publishing.
The launch of JBSE also represents a concrete step in TDTU’s implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science, technology, and innovation development and Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in education and training development, while aligning with Ton Duc Thang University’s Development Plan for the 2025–2030 period.
TDTU is committed to providing the necessary resources, facilities, and academic environment to support JBSE’s stable operation while safeguarding its editorial independence. The combination of an international Editorial Board, a rigorous peer-review network, and publishing partner World Scientific is expected to help JBSE progressively establish its academic reputation and become a trusted publication venue in business, economics, and sustainable development.
