Opening Ceremony of the Southern Regional Qualifiers - Vietnam Civil Servants Football Tournament 2025 at Ton Duc Thang University
On October 10, 2025, at the stadium of Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU), the opening ceremony of the Southern Regional Qualifiers of the Vietnam Civil Servants Football Tournament 2025 took place.
Attending the opening ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL); Mr. Tran Anh Tu - Vice President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF); Ms. Nguyen Kim Loan - Member of the City Party Committee, Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Federation of Labour; journalist Tran Xuan Toan - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Tuoi Tre Newspaper, Head of the Tournament Organizing Committee, and many representatives of the VGCL and agencies and departments of Ho Chi Minh City.
On the TDTU’s side, there were Dr. Tran Trong Dao - President of TDTU; Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Son - Vice President of TDTU. The ceremony was also attended by representatives of accompanying companies, enterprises, communications units, 23 participating football teams, and a large number of fans who came to watch and cheer for the tournament.
This is a national sports event for civil servants, jointly organized by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, the Vietnam Football Federation and Tuoi Tre Newspaper. This year, the tournament has entered its third season, continuing to affirm its role as a healthy and useful playground, creating opportunities for exchange, strengthening solidarity, training health, improving the cultural and spiritual life of Vietnamese civil servants. At the same time, the tournament is also a practical activity to welcome the Party Congresses at all levels, towards the 14th National Party Congress, and welcoming the 11th National Patriotic Emulation Congress of Civil Servants and Laborers 2025.
Speaking at the Opening Ceremony, journalist Tran Xuan Toan - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Tuoi Tre Newspaper, Head of the Tournament Organizing Committee, said that after 3 years of implementation, the Tournament has brought many results. The biggest success is to create an annual playground with connection and sharing between Labour unions at national and regional levels; this is also the biggest goal that the Organizing Committee of the Tournament is aiming for.
This year’s tournament will start in September 2024, including two rounds: the qualifying round held in the Northern region (Hanoi) and the Southern region (Ho Chi Minh City) to select the 16 best teams to qualify for the National Finals, taking place at the end of October in Ho Chi Minh City. The Southern Region qualifying round will gather 23 teams, competing from October 10 to 13, 2025 at two stadium clusters of TDTU (Groups A, B) and People’s Police University (Groups C, D). In which, the qualifying rounds from the first stage to the final ones will be held at TDTU Stadium.
This is the second consecutive year that TDTU has been honored to be chosen as the venue for the Footbal Tournament. With a FIFA 2-star certified artificial turf and a capacity of more than 7,000 spectators, TDTU Stadium offers facilities of equivalent quality to those of a professional football club. It is also the prestigious venue for important sporting events such as the Vietnam Student Youth Football Tournament, the International Student Youth Football Tournament, the 2nd National Student 7-a-side Football Tournament in 2023, etc.
