On the afternoon of May 9, 2024, the delegation of Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) visited and worked with Thai Nguyen University (TNU). The delegation includes Dr. Dang Ngoc Tung - former member of the Party Central Committee, former Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, member of the University Council; Dr. Vu Anh Duc - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the University Council; Dr. Tran Trong Dao - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, President of TDTU, and a number of leaders of Faculties, Institutes, and functional Departments of the University.

At the working session, Prof. Pham Hong Quang - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Council of Thai Nguyen University (TNU) gave a welcome speech and an introduction to TNU on some issues related to university autonomy implemented at TNU.

Within the framework of the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Danh Nam, Head of TNU’s Training and Learner Management Department, summarized information about some results of TNU’s training and scientific research in recent years. To date, TNU has offered training in hundreds of undergraduate and graduate majors. Enrollment scale has been increasing. In addition, TNU has completed hundreds of scientific missions, publishing thousands of scientific articles in journals in the WoS/Scopus database every year.

On behalf of the TDTU delegation, Dr. Vu Anh Duc, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Council of TDTU summarized some achievements in the autonomy process of TDTU, especially emphasized that the University is an autonomous educational institution in group I. At the same time, with the spirit of innovation and learning, TDTU always wants to increase exchanges and cooperation with large universities like TNU.

Dr. Tran Trong Dao, President of TDTU, shared some of the university’s autonomy and management experiences and affirmed that cooperation between universities is an inevitable trend. At the meeting, Dr. Tran Trong Dao proposed some specific directions of cooperation from TDTU to TNU such as cooperation in scientific research and training, sharing of resources and support policies in research for scientists, lecturers and researchers between the two institutions; academic exchange activities among lecturers/students, etc.

During the exchange and discussion, the two universities shared and discussed important topics in education, scientific research and university management. Dr. Dang Ngoc Tung, former member of the Party Central Committee, former Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, and member of the Council of TDTU shared the process of formation and growth of the University. The exchange took place in a friendly atmosphere, with the goal of enhancing the quality of education and training, while promoting integration and sustainable development in the educational community.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Van Hung, Director of TNU highly appreciated the results that TDTU has achieved and hoped that the two sides would soon implement specific cooperation activities.
