Ton Duc Thang University Hosts the 2nd Vietnam Science and Engineering Fair (ViSEF) for Students from 62 Provinces and Cities
On the afternoon of March 19, 2025, the opening ceremony of the 2nd Vietnam Science and Engineering Fair (ViSEF) for secondary and high school students for the academic year 2024-2025 (held from March 19 to 21, 2025) took place solemnly at Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU), District 7, Ho Chi Minh City.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Pham Ngoc Thuong – Permanent Deputy Minister of Education and Training, Head of the Competition Steering Committee; Dr. Thai Van Tai – Director General of the Primary Education Department, Deputy Head of the Competition Steering Committee; along with leaders from various departments and units of the Ministry of Education and Training, and members of the Competition Steering Committee.
On behalf of leaders from Ho Chi Minh City, the event was attended by Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy - Member of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee; Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training; along with representatives from various departments and sectors who are members of the Competition Steering Committee in Ho Chi Minh City.
From Ton Duc Thang University, the host institution of the competition, there were Dr. Vu Anh Duc, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the University Council; Dr. Tran Trong Dao, President of the University; along with members of the Presidential Board and leaders of various affiliated units.
The opening ceremony was also attended by many distinguished guests, including leaders from the Departments of Education and Training of provinces and cities with participating contestants; leaders of supporting units, sponsors, parents, and over 400 contestants from 74 competing teams representing high schools, universities, institutes, research institutes, and high schools under the Ministry and equivalent agencies.
Dr. Tran Trong Dao, President of TDTU, emphasized: “As a higher education institution oriented towards excellence, innovation, and sustainability, Ton Duc Thang University always values the role of science and technology in education and national development. Therefore, accompanying and organizing this meaningful event is not only a source of pride but also a great responsibility for the University in creating opportunities for the younger generation to pursue knowledge and innovation.”
This is the second time that Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) has been selected by the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee to host the competition. (The first time was in 2019)
With modern facilities meeting the requirements for hosting large-scale events, TDTU closely collaborated with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training to ensure all necessary conditions were met for the competition and its accompanying activities to be successfully organized. In addition to providing personnel support for event organization and assisting participating teams, the University prepared comprehensive infrastructure and facilities, including a 1,400-seat auditorium for the opening and closing ceremonies; a sports complex covering over 3,000 m², serving as the exhibition and presentation area for 212 competing projects; a separate, isolated 1,800 m² evaluation area dedicated to the judging process; a science and technology application exhibition area showcasing educational and training innovations in Ho Chi Minh City, featuring 10 exhibition booths across 3,000 m², etc.
