Ton Duc Thang University Accompanies Local Authorities to Create a Digital Education Ecosystem

Digital transformation in education is often mentioned using large concepts such as digital platforms, digital learning materials, artificial intelligence, and smart classrooms. However, at the local level, where schools are simultaneously facing many problems regarding infrastructure, implementation capacity, and ways to change teaching mindsets, digital transformation only truly becomes meaningful when there are units ready to get involved, share resources, and work together in reality.

Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) is entering that process in the role of a companion university, sharing and co-creating solutions with local authorities.

At the scientific seminar titled “Digital Transformation in Education” organized by the University in coordination with the Party Committee and People’s Committee of Tan Hung Ward on April 21, 2026, the image of TDTU appeared not as an ordinary seminar participant, but as a direct knowledge partner contributing to opening a new approach for local education.

The most notable thing the University brought to the seminar was not in fashionable technology concepts, but in the way of re-posing the problem: digital transformation in education is not just about digitizing documents or adding more equipment to the classroom, but first of all, it is about changing pedagogical thinking, innovating governance models, and redesigning learning spaces toward a more flexible, open, and interactive direction. This perspective was emphasized at the seminar by Dr. Duong Thi Thuy Van - Director of the Center for Innovation and Technology Transfer (CITT) of TDTU.

From that mindset, the University sent a clear message: a university is not only a place for training and research for itself, but can also become a resource-sharing center for the community. The “shared university” model that TDTU pursues is expressed through very specific actions, including sharing digital resources, expanding opportunities for students to access virtual laboratories from the University, supporting the construction of open technology learning spaces at high schools, and sending experts to participate in fostering digital pedagogical capacity for teachers and educational managers at the local level.

The seminar also marked a shift from academic exchange to practical action. The launch of the Tan Hung Education Hub Executive Board (THU Hub), together with a commitment to coordination among 37 public and non-public educational institutions in the area, shows that digital transformation is no longer seen as an isolated task of individual institutions, but is being positioned within a broader, more structured, and more sustainable collaborative framework. Within this framework, TDTU plays an important role as a key node in knowledge, technology, and connectivity.

From a scientific seminar, a powerful message has emerged. This means when a university actively steps out of its campus to accompany local authorities, transfer knowledge, share technology, and support capacity building for the grassroots education system, then digital transformation can go from awareness to action, from orientation to real efficiency.

That is also the way the University affirms the role of an institution that does not stand outside social movements but directly participates in creating the future of digital education from the community to which it is attached.
