Closing Ceremony of the First International Student Football Tournament 2025 at Ton Duc Thang University

On March 30, 2025, the closing ceremony of the First International Student Football Tournament 2025 took place at the Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) stadium.

Among the attendees were prominent government officials including Mr. Mai Van Chinh, Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Prime Minister; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Kim Son, Member of the Party Central Committee and Minister of Education and Training; Mr. Bui Quang Huy, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee and First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union; Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh, Deputy Director General of the Vietnam Sports Administration, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; and Mr. Nguyen Xuan Vu, Vice President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).

Local attendees included Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, and Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee; Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee; and Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hoi, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports.

International representatives featured Mr. Chan Sorykan, Consul General of the Kingdom of Cambodia in Ho Chi Minh City, and Mr. Phonesy Bounmixay, Consul General of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.

From the hosting and organizing committees, attendees included Dr. Tran Trong Dao, the President of TDTU, and Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Toan, Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper and Head of the Organizing Committee, along with various delegates, leaders, and sponsors.

The event attracted thousands of supporters from universities across Ho Chi Minh City, who came to watch and cheer. Notably, the closing ceremony and final match were graced by the presence of Mr. Nguyen Tien Linh, a player from the Vietnam national football team and the 2024 Vietnam Golden Ball winner.

The tournament, organized for the first time by Thanh Nien Newspaper with the professional support of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), was hosted by Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU). The tournament featured six teams including Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports, and Tourism (champion of the 2025 Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament - THACO Cup), Life University (Cambodia), the National University of Laos (NUOL), University of Malaya, Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), and TDTU.

Through thrilling and exciting matches, the two outstanding teams that made it to the final were the National University of Laos and Vietnam’s representative – Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. In the end, Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports, and Tourism secured a 2-1 victory, becoming the tournament Champion.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Toan emphasized that not only the two teams competing in the final, but all teams participating in this tournament demonstrated thorough preparation, determination, and high-level gameplay, offering the audience thrilling matches throughout the event.

With its experience in organizing large-scale sports events and internationally standard facilities, especially a FIFA-standard football stadium with over 7,000 seats, TDTU significantly contributed to the success of the tournament. The enthusiastic participation of the teams and the vibrant, civilized spirit of the supporters created an unforgettable season.

TDTU, as a co-organizer with Thanh Nien Newspaper over the past three tournaments, played a key role in promoting the movement of school-based physical training and sports. It inspired and spread the love of football among students while creating opportunities to discover and train young talents into professional athletes in the future.
