On September 17, 2021, the Faculty of Business Administration, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) organized an online talkshow with the topic “Starting a career or a business” to provide students, especially those about to graduate with the necessary knowledge to prepare for the journey ahead. In particular, in the context of the complications of the pandemic, all social activities are temporarily suspended. This timely event also meant to boost confidence and morale of many students.

The program was participated by Mr. Le Anh Tuan - Head of Department of Skills Development and Social Work, Hanoi Youth Center for Employment Service, Founding Member of Hanoi Supporting Office for Youth’s Startup; Dr. Hoang Hoa Mai - Deputy General Director in charge of human resources of Sendo Technology Joint Stock Company; Ms. Nguyen Thi Loan Anh - CEO and Founder of Bloom Advertising Solution Co., Ltd., alumnus of Faculty of Business Administration, TDTU.

During the talkshow, the speakers shared their journey towards self-establishment, their business as well as the lessons learned from their experiences in this journey; suggesting the necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes that students need to prepare for their own career path.

The speakers also shared their views on the issue of "Starting a career or a business" from different perspectives, but all aimed at the common message: Students need to focus on cultivating the necessary knowledge and skills, training the spirit of learning, especially not being afraid to deal with difficulties to gain experience. These are the key factors to help young people succeed on the road ahead. The Covid-19 pandemic is not only a challenge but an opportunity for self-improvement and self-discovery.

With more than 2,500 audiences watching the talkshow, it raised many questions from attendees about employment issues after graduation which were answered practically by the speakers. Some of the questions were about: How to apply to the desired company while having not gained any experiences, What skills to win employers, How to find a job during COVID-19, Is it possible to get a job in a different field than your major, Should one start a career or start a business, Should one start a business now, and so on.

With this, the students had the opportunity to express their concerns, questions and receive enthusiastic answers through diverse perspectives from three guest speakers. The actual sharing of the speakers has contributed to the motivation of students to constantly strive, improve and be well-prepared for the path of starting a career as well as their own business.
