On the morning of July 25th, 2020, postdoc students, postdoc researchers and third-year students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages who are taking an apprenticeship course at the Department of Graduate Studies, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) participated in the trip of practical study in Can Gio; with the purpose of developing historical cultural knowledge and practical experience for overseas students of the Department of Graduate Studies in Semester 2, academic year 2019-2020. This is also an opportunity for foreign students and students of the Department of Foreign Languages to exchange their knowledge, practice English and learn about biodiversity at Sac rain forest - Can Gio, which is recognized by UNESCO as a site of the World’s Biosphere Reservation in 2000 with a unique and typical flora and fauna system of the mangrove areas.
The trip also brought international students to the historical site, which was the key base against the French at Vam Sat and Can Gio Beach. These two locations are about 45 km southeast of Ho Chi Minh City.
Taking part in the trip, foreign students had the opportunity to explore and learn about Vietnam's typical mangrove ecosystem, as well as learn about the history of the anti-French colonial period in Vam Sat. At Can Gio Beach, foreign students have expanded their knowledge of the diverse marine ecosystem filled with estuarine sediments, which is known as the area adjacent to the mouth of the Long Tau Estuary and the South China Sea. Foreign students participated in outdoor fun activities such as volleyball and Team-building games.
Along with sightseeing, the field trip is a great opportunity for Postdoc researchers to have a summer vacation and interact with students.
