To earnest commemoration of the 70 th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory Battle (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024), the Party Committee, the University Council, and Presidential Board of Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) organized a study and return trip to the Northern provinces to promote the spirit of patriotism, national pride, as well as to honor and pay tribute to people who have contributed to the revolution, compatriots and soldiers who contributed their efforts and blood to build and protect our Nation.
The delegation included Dr. Dang Ngoc Tung, former member of the Party Central Committee, former Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, member of the Council of Ton Duc Thang University; Dr. Vu Anh Duc, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Council of Ton Duc Thang University; Dr. Tran Trong Dao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, TDTU President, and a number of leaders of Faculties, Institutes, and functional Departments of the University.
The team got the chance to meet and share experiences with the Federation of Labour of Thai Nguyen province, Lao Cai province, and Dien Bien province as part of their business trip, which took place from May 10, 2024 to May 13, 2024. The delegation also visited five primary and secondary schools in Muong Phang commune, Dien Bien City, Dien Bien Province, and presented 100 scholarships to deserving children who thrive academically despite adversity.
To focus on the goal of “going back to the origin,” Ton Duc Thang University delegation visited to several historical relics during the business trip: the location of the first Vietnam Trade Union Congress, which was held in the morning of January 1, 1950, in Cao Van commune, Dai
Tu District, Thai Nguyen province; the Tan Trao Banyan Tree relic, where on August 16, 1945, General Vo Nguyen Giap, acting on behalf of the National Uprising Committee, read Military Order No. 1 and gave the order for troops to liberate Hanoi; and the historical relics safety zone (ATK) in Dinh Hoa (Thai Nguyen). This was the place President Ho Chi Minh and other Party and State leaders lived and worked from 1947 to 1954 to lead the 9-year resistance war against French colonialism.
In order to enhance exchanges and connections within the trade union system, the delegation visited and interacted with the Lao Cai province Federation of Labour.
The final destination of the journey back to its origin was Dien Bien Phu City, where the 70 th anniversary of the historic victory of Dien Bien Phu took place, which was illustrious in five continents and shaking the earth.
Through practical lessons and living documents on the journey “back to the origin” of the Northwest region of the country, it has helped foster national pride and love for the homeland for members of the Youth Union. Besides, it also strengthened their solidarity, create cordial relationships within the trade union system and promote more enthusiasm and revolutionary to strive to successfully complete all assigned tasks.
