Science seminar in December, 2019

The Department for Management of Science and Technology Development (DEMASTED) – Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) would like to announce the periodic Science seminar in December 2019:

Content: there will be 4 science reports presented at the Seminar:

  1. Oversampling Free Energy Perturbation Simulation in Determination of the Ligand‐Binding Free Energy;
  2. Extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) – a machine leaning algorithm of choice for wining Kaggle competitions;
  3. Free vibration analysis of functionally graded anisotropic microplates using modified strain gradient theory;
  4. An updated checklist of Theaceae in Vietnam.

Speakers’ profiles:

- Dr. Ngo Son Tung: head of TCB Lab, presents the report Oversampling Free Energy Perturbation Simulation in Determination of the Ligand‐Binding Free Energy. Dr. Tung has authored nearly 40 ISI publications (H-index 13) with exemplary announcements in leading journals of the field such as: Coordination Chemistry Reviews (Impact factor: 14.5), Journal of Biological Chemistry (Impact factor: 4.2) and Journal of Physical Chemistry B (Impact factor: 3.2).

- Dr. Nguyen Trung Hai: member of TCG Lab, presents the report Extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) – a machine leaning algorithm of choice for wining Kaggle competitions. Dr. Hai has authored more than 20 ISI publications (H-index 10), with exemplary announcements in journals such as: Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (Impact factor 9.5), Journal of Chemical Theory and Computation (Impact factor 5.4) and Chemistry–A European Journal (Impact factor 5.1). Dr. Hai is one of the top experts of TDTU when it comes to researching free linking affinity between biological systems calculation methods.

- Dr. Thai Hoang Chien: member of DCM research group, presents the report Free vibration analysis of functionally graded anisotropic microplates using modified strain gradient theory Dr. Chien has authored more than 50 ISI publications (H-index 25), with exemplary announcements on journals such as: Composites Part B: Engineering (Impact factor 4.9), Computer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering (Impact factor 4.4) and Composite Structure (Impact factor 4.1). With more than 2000 citations during his 8 years of research, Dr. Chien is TDTU’s and the world’s leading expert in the field of Computational Mechanics, belonging to the group of 10.000 scientists with the most citations worldwide, according to Scopus.

- Dr. Pham Van The: member of DEMASTED, presents the An updated checklist of Theaceae in Vietnam. Dr. The has authored nearly 20 ISI publications (H-index 5), with exemplary announcements in leading journals such as: Scientia Horticulturae (Impact factor: 1.961), Annals of Applied Biology (Impact factor: 1.611) and Phytotaxa (Impact factor: 1.168).
