Green educational environment

Since the constructions of Tan Phong headquarter, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) has had the aim of turning this campus into a park in Ho Chi Minh City or the so-called “school-park”. Therefore, TDTU is nearly one of the 10 nation-wide institutions that have succeeded in establishing and developing a “green educational environment”; with fresh and airy space amidst a crowded and animated urban area in the city center.

With 77.8 % of total areas of land with trees, it is very easy to see TDTU students in harmony with nature every day, on benches and rocking chairs stretching throughout the university yard, on the stone tables and on hospices that are put on green lawns where students discuss lessons after class or confide with their friends. Moments of fatigue or anxiety seem to disappear and it gives peacefulness and love in their soul.

Not only that, on the paths with green trees leading to the INSPIRE Library, we can also accidentally catch some lotus flowers blooming quietly and growing from the mud in the lake which are worth staring at. I am sure that not many students know that our university has such a lotus pond. Despite not being prominent amidst a large green campus, Lotus flowers wear a real beauty, simplicity, resilience; quietness, and nobility. Moreover, when admiring Lotus, I am proud of studying at a university that not only educates us to be ethical, disciplined, but also reminds us not to forget our origin, but remember the sacrifice of our forefathers who gave us a happy and peaceful life.

With the attitude of keeping public places clean, TDTU students’ habit of disposing rubbish at designated places has become a habit in their daily life. So, it is not surprising that the university leaders have reported to the State leaders that TDTU is “the cleanest office in the country”. Along the roads, corridors or any other places around the campus, you will not see even a piece of trash. Even in the university cafeteria, students are also aware of cleaning the dining area by themselves. The way in honing students is conducted strictly, effectively, and regularly. Therefore, it is not surprising that students are accustomed to the sense of maintaining common hygiene and see it as a culture to apply not only on campus, but also in every place where TDTU students are always confident of their modern and civilized lifestyle. This contributes to helping students become not only complete developers in both knowledge acquisition and civilized behavior, but also global citizens.
