      2. Students with Reading Culture

On the same day, TDTU Library collaborated with Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and Accompanying Books Club to organize “Students with Reading Culture” an exchange program called involving over 600 students.

The purpose of the Program is to develop students’ reading skills and inspire them to read effectively. In addition, the program is also an exchange between students and authors that are popular with young people.

The authors Anh Khang and Tri shared useful information about the need of reading and introduced some contemporary literary works that are widely considered. Speaker Do Duc Hieu, lecturer of TDTU, exchanged experience and skills to help with more effective reading. The speakers discussed growth in technology and readily available access to information, pointing out the risk of young people neglecting reading skills. Reading is an important cultural feature that needs to be maintained and promoted.

      3. University autonomy in the current period:

On the morning of the 31st, (October 2019) Vietnam Education Electronic Newspaper (giaoduc.net) published a multi-period article on university autonomy and the challenges that are being posed to universities. This first article has an excerpt from the speech of Prof. Le Vinh Danh, TDTU President in a clip attached (see link below).

Clearly and succinctly addressing each issue, Prof. Le Vinh Danh spoke about real difficulties which autonomous universities, like TDTU, are facing. Many of those difficulties are almost impossible for universities to overcome; but there must be persistent discourse with high levels of leadership (Ministries and departments) to achieve necessary interventions. And so, a university’s autonomy must continue to succeed and help Vietnam’s higher education system so as to develop stably and sustainably.
